Carphone Warehouse ready for demerger
The Carphone Warehouse has been talking about the splitting the company for some time, as it has essentially been running as two businesses, with the Carphone Warehouse running the retail operation while TalkTalk covers the broadband and landline side of the business.
It seems that the demerger is going to be announced tomorrow (Wed, 22nd April) and the two businesses will be finally separated.
Obviously, the details of the demerger will become apparent when the chief executive Charles Dunstone makes the announcement and reveals how this is going to affect the overall performance of the group.
There is still the question of Tiscali, and it is highly likely that a demerger could mean another attempt to buy the UK division of Tiscal which would bolster the company’s customer base, making it a substantial broadband supplier.
