15:00pm Death Drums Along the River (PG) 1963

An inspector is called to Africa to investigate the murder of a fellow policeman and uncovers a diamond-smuggling operation seemingly connected with an up-river hospital. Uninspired mystery which lacks the ability to intrigue, starring Richard Todd, Marianne Koch, Albert Lieven and Walter Rilla .

16:35pm Time Lock (PG) 1957

Largely forgotten suspense thriller, remarkable mainly for featuring a very young Sean Connery in an early role. The plot itself is about a boy who somehow manages to get himself locked in a bank vault. With 63 hours before the device opens, the authorities are left facing a race against time to free the lad before he runs out of air — and suffers a horrible end. Robert Beatty, Betty McDowall, Vincent Winter and Lee Patterson head the cast .

17:55pm The Mark of Zorro (PG) 1974

The masked swashbuckling aristocrat returns from Spain to his native California, where he sets about righting the wrongs committed by a local villain. Fun-filled remake of the classic 1940 adventure, which lacks the zip of the more recent rehash, starring Frank Langella, Ricardo Montalban, Gilbert Roland and Yvonne De Carlo .

19:15pm Carry On Dick (PG) 1974

Lawmen Kenneth Williams and Jack Douglas dedicate themselves to catching cheeky highwayman Sid James, and enlist the help of a local reverend. But little do they realise the pious pastor and his buxom housemaid aren't all they seem. Ribald comedy, notable as being James's final appearance in the long-running franchise, co-starring the usual suspects including Barbara Windsor, Bernard Bresslaw, Joan Sims and Hattie Jacques .

21:00pm Speed (15) 1994

Jan De Bont's directorial debut, a thrill-a-minute action adventure about a game of cat-and-mouse between LAPD cop Keanu Reeves and unhinged explosives expert Dennis Hopper. The film gets off to a cracking start with the rescue of passengers stuck in a booby-trapped lift — but the adrenaline really gets pumping once Hopper plants a bomb on a bus, primed to go off if the vehicle drops below 50mph. From then on, it's non-stop action, as Reeves — modelling the white vest necessary for any serious action man — tries to prevent the passengers being blown to smithereens. Sandra Bullock co-stars as the scatty passenger who ends up behind the wheel of the bus, with Jeff Daniels as Keanu's partner .

23:10pm Piranha (18) 1978

Mutant man-eating piranhas infest an American river and embark on a bloodthirsty killing spree, and only an alcoholic tour guide and a plucky insurance investigator stand in their way. Enjoyable tongue-in-cheek horror for fans of rubbery special effects and comical over-acting, starring Bradford Dillman, Heather Menzies and Barbara Steele. Directed by Joe Dante, whose admiration for his future mentor Steven Spielberg is apparent throughout this Jaws-inspired effort .

00:55am The Good Thief (15) 2003

Crime drama, starring Nick Nolte as a down-on-his-luck gambler and heroin addict who hatches an ambitious plan to rob a casino's priceless art collection, but has to come up with a cunning scheme to outwit his tenacious arch-enemy. Neil Jordan's complex remake of French thriller Bob Le Flambeur, co-starring Tcheky Karyo and Said Taghmaoui, and featuring a cameo appearance by Ralph Fiennes as a shady art dealer .

Epic saga, starring Richard Gere, Brooke Adams, Sam Shepard and Linda Manz, and directed by acclaimed and reclusive director Terence Malick

18:35pm Chariots of Fire (U) 1981

Stirring Oscar-winning drama based on the true story of contrasting British runners — Scotsman Eric Liddell and Jewish student Harold Abrahams — going for gold at the 1924 Olympics in Paris. Ben Cross and Ian Charleson are brilliant as the sportsmen, who are driven to run for very different reasons, while Nigel Havers, John Gielgud and Ian Holm are among the stiff upper-lipped co-stars. Vangelis's evocative soundtrack serves to raise viewers' spirits

22:55pm Somersault (15) 2004

Four very different men are ordered to attend a rehabilitation programme after being caught drink driving — but one soon looks set to take a financial tumble at the hands of his scheming fellow offenders. This was Farnsworth's final film appearance before his death in 2000

Something of a classic. All this, plus rockin' performances from Little Richard, Eddie Cochran and Julie London, among many others.

15:00pm The Guinea Pig (PG) 1948

Working-class pupil Richard Attenborough is sent to public school as part of an educational experiment, and horrifies the establishment with his uncouth behaviour and bad manners. Contrived, predictable wartime drama, with the attractive trio of leading ladies — Catherine McCormack, Anna Friel and Rachel Weisz — slipping comfortably into stereotypical characterisations, and staying there come hell or high water. Tom Georgeson, Steven Mackintosh, Maureen O'Brien and Lucy Akhurst co-star (888)

Garish and strangely dull Western, starring Barbara Stanwyck, Barry Sullivan and Scott Brady.

The world's most inept police detective, Inspector Clouseau, heads off to Switzerland in search of a suave jewel thief targeting a valuable gem — but the bumbling officer's attempts to foil the crime create chaos. Blake Edwards' priceless comedy, which proved so successful it spawned a host of sequels (and a few misjudged remakes). Peter Sellers is on side-splitting form as the clumsy copper, alongside David Niven, Capucine, Robert Wagner and Claudia Cardinale. Watch out for the famed cartoon Pink Panther making his debut appearance in the opening credits.

21:00pm Dogma (15) 1999

Two fallen angels pull out all the stops to worm their way back into Heaven after being banished by God (played by Canadian songstress Alanis Morissette), but their fumbling attempts to prove their worth only lead them even further from salvation. Kevin Smith's controversial comedy fantasy came under fire from religious groups on release, but rises above the furore to stand out as a brilliantly funny piece of satire. Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Linda Fiorentino, Salma Hayek, Jason Lee and Alan Rickman star. Smith himself makes another appearance as cult hero Silent Bob, accompanied, as ever, by Jason Mewes' Jay.

Michael Mann's ultra-stylish thriller set amid the neon lights of night-time LA, starring Tom Cruise as the ice-cool assassin, and Jamie Foxx as the expendable driver

23:15pm Thief (18) 1981
