No picture in Kodi

I am using VIX 5.4.016 on a VUDUO + 4k. I installed Kodi,when I start Kodi from the plugin menu it all looks fine and the setup all seems to work ok, I link it to my NAS via NFS and it shows my files ok, but if I try to play a file, be it an XVID, MP4, MKV, 264 or 265 it will not play it, it shows the play screen but there is no video or sound?
Any idea's anyone please
