Film fans bang on about 'this lax French copy' - but it's not a copy, it's a completely different film altogether. Different plot and different characters. It just happens to feature the French Air Force, whereas Top Gun was based on the US Navy.

----------------------------------------------

Starring Gérard Lanvin, Jacques Villeret, Gérard Darmon and Pascal Reneric. Directed by Frédéric Forestier.

Twenty five years later three of the gang are barely scraping a respectable living.

He then goes to have lunch.

----------------------------------------------

Joyeux Noël (2005) (Multi 7) War / Drama: Language: French / German / English / Latin

Starring Diane Kruger, Benno Fürmann, Guillaume Canet and Dany Boon Directed by Christian Carion.

In 1914, World War I, the bloodiest war ever at that time in human history, was well under way. However on Christmas Eve, numerous sections of the Western Front called an informal, and unauthorized, truce where the various front-line soldiers of the conflict peacefully met each other in No Man's Land to share a precious pause in the carnage with a fleeting brotherhood. This film dramatizes one such section as the French, British and German sides partake in the unique event, even though they are aware that their superiors will not tolerate its occurrence.

----------------------------------------------

Latin Dragon (2004) (Multi 1 & 6 & 7) Action NEW

Starring Fabian Carrillo, Gary Busey, Lorenzo Lamas and Robert LaSardo. Directed by Scott Thomas.

In the grand tradition of the lone hero who mysteriously appears in a town desperate for help (think "Shane, "Billy Jack", "James Bond" and "Chinese Connection"), having survived a war and now serving the government as an undercover agent, Danny Silva (Fabian Carrillo) takes on his biggest foe yet: the street gangs that have taken over his neighborhood. Unwilling to play by the rules set down by the criminals, Silva forgoes the use of guns and decides to battle the thugs with the strength of his fists, spirit and willpower, turning himself into a real-life, modern-day superhero. Packed with pulse pounding, adrenaline-filled action; "Latin Dragon" gives us our first mainstream Latino martial arts action hero.

Now she is clean and takes over a new group. Soon they have to investigate the murder of a homeless person. The search for the killer brings big dangers for most of the group, but specially for the lieutenant and his boss.

----------------------------------------------

Les Chevaliers Du Ciel (Multi 7) Adventure / Action

Starring Benoît Magimel, Clovis Cornillac, Géraldine Pailhas and Philippe Torreton. Directed by Gérard Pirès.

A French aerial-action flick packed with fast jets, quick tempered pilots and the usual array of love-interests. Many have compared 'Les Chevaliers du ciel' to the 1986 US box office blockbuster, Top Gun.

A prologue set in 1980 features a jewellery heist on the Place Vendome; ten years earlier Yves Montand and Alain Delon showed how to do it subtly in 'Le Cercle Rouge' but clearly this equipe don't go to the cinema because they eschew subtlety in favour of brute force. Twenty five years later three of the gang are barely scraping a respectable living.

Ramon's wife is also Spanish and has a yen to return to Spain so when he pretends not to understand English when driving a business acquaintance of Veber's to an appointment the man feels able to speak freely about stock-market activity and before you can say Dow Jones the chauffeur is rolling in the green stuff and has a villa in Spain.

----------------------------------------------

The trouble for the Queen is Arnaud's wife, Armelle, an awkward plain-looking speech therapist. Will this ugly duckling really be up to her royal task?
