Only then does she discover that her Italian lover (Paolo Seganti) has tricked her into signing over all her money and modern art collection to him, and is now arranging her execution. 15:00 Uncle Silas (115 min1947 United Kingdom PG Movie / Drama)

Chilling suspense drama featuring Jean Simmons as a young girl sent to live with her Uncle Silas (Derrick de Marney) following the death of her father. Silas was acquitted of a murder earlier in life, a crime of which her father believed him innocent. Silas seems a kindly old chap at first, but with the help of his housekeeper and sinister son, he soon begins to plot Simmons's death in order to gain her inheritance.

16:55 Frankenstein 75 min 1931 USA PG Science fiction / Fantasy / Horror)

The original horror classic of the talking picture era, in which an obsessed scientist creates a living being from parts of exhumed corpses. No longer so much a movie as it is a genuine part of popular folklore, the film itself shows its age, particularly in the absence of a musical score. But the performances by Colin Clive and particularly the great Boris Karloff are the whole show here, forgiving a multitude of creaks and groans and more than compensating for any lulls in the narrative. Truly a film everyone should see at least once.

18:10 Cry Freedom (170 min 1987 United Kingdom PG Movie / Drama)

Donald Woods is chief editor at the liberal newspaper Daily Dispatch in South Africa. He has written several editorials critical of the views of Steve Biko. But after having met him for the first time, he changes his views. They meet several times, and this means that Woods and his family get attention from the security police. When Steve Biko dies in police custody, he writes a book about Biko. The only way to get it published is for Woods himself to illegally escape the country.

21:00 Mickey Blue Eyes (115 min 1999 USA / United Kingdom 15 Comedy / Crime / Romance)

Things get worse when a godfather (Burt Young) decides to launder his no-talent son's gory paintings through the art house and gets the FBI into the picture. Everything then falls apart when the son is accidentally shot.

22.55 The Football Factory (100 min 2004 United Kingdom18 Movie / Crime / Drama)

The Football Factory is more than just a study of the English obsession with football violence, its about men looking for armies to join, wars to fight and places to belong. A forgotten culture of Anglo Saxon males fed up with being told they're not good enough and using thier fists as a drug they describe as being more potent than sex and drugs put together. Shot in documentery style with the energy and vibrancy of handheld, The Football Factory is frightingly real yet full of painful humour as the four characters extreme thoughts and actions unfold before us.

00:35 Paisa (135 min1946 Italy PG Movie / War / Drama)

A woman leads an Allied patrol through a mine field; she dies protecting a G.I., but the Yanks think she killed him. A street urchin steals shoes from a G.I. who tracks him to a shanty town. A G.I. meets a woman the day Rome is liberated; in six months they meet again: he's cynical, she's a whore. Allied soldiers and partisans try to escape capture in the marshes of the Po.
