My brother just bought a house that has a dish in the backyard, and was wondering if it can be used. Can someone point me to a section / thread where I can start reading to figure this out? He lives in North America, here's a pic of the dish. Thanks

Yes you can if it is at least a 8 footer if it is a 6 footer it will be too small for DVB S2 signals a 10 footer or bigger is what you want for DVB S2 but a 8 footer will pick up a lot of them. do a google search on c band satellite and you will find all kinds of info & different forums for more info

you will also need a V-box (dish mover Box) & a C band Receiver the Skysat S-2020 is a nice cheap box to start with it will open PowerVu & Biss channels with the receiver connected to the internet. Go to www.lyngsat.com/america.html& pick a satellite from the list & see what you can get.
Ses 1 (101 W) is a good sat with some good channels you will want to have the V box so you can move to other sats as there are good channel on most satellites
