Viark DRS2 - firmware download - settings - tests & help topic

i am new to these type of boxes, so in this thread i will discuss my findings with the DRS2 and look forward to other users input.

I have attached some of the files i can find for the box:

Original firmware
PT 1.02 firmware (this is the latest i can find )
A channel editor (untested as yet)
User manual
netflix app (untested )
Simple instructions to update via USB stick :-
(i also used the option from the boxes menu to update to pt 1.02 with the remote control / usb stick)

On to my results of 24 hour test running pt 1.02

1. UHD /4k output dose not work above 25fps
2. Blind scan works well - BUT there is no setting to filter out adjacent sats ?
3. Auto biss and powerVU seem to work well where tested.
4. I am able to record to USB stick, but there is no sound on playback
5. Timeshift is glitchy

My biggest issue is the channel list!!
So far i have added 6 sats, the list is very unorganised and editing via remote control will take months..... so on to questions...

I am able to back up my settings to a file, but where is this file stored and how to get it off the box ?

What are the best channel list editors ??

Under other-ca menu - "home share" is a newcs server, has anyone got this working ? What are the other server types 1, 2, 3 etc etc ?
i would very like to get this working and use my e2 box as the end user. Any advise appreciated

Well had the box about a month now, the channel list issue has been solved with massive thanks to the creator here:

Recordings do actually work, but you have to manually select the correct audio file during playback, this seems to be only on sly 28.2 pay channels
Use the std video player to start playback - menu - audio options - AC35.1 .....Im am still not able to find a setting to make it do it automatically and have tried various media player apps with the same results.

Firmware updates are lacking on the DRS2, the last available one is still pt1.02 (from march lol)

TO SAVE CHANNEL LIST TO STORAGE:

Menu - Media - database - sda1 - RED to upload.
A database.db file should have beeen created in this location.



TO LOAD AN EDITTED CHANNEL LIST TO BOX:

Menu - Media - database - sda1 - SELECT YOR NEW CHANNEL LIST somename.db
PRESS OK
On screen question: "do you want to update file?" YES or NO select one
The channel list will update with an on screen "success" message
No need to reboot the new channel list will be inplace.
