My Packard Bell imedia 1529 Desk PC started crashing so I tried a factory reset using a system restore disc,I have done this before with no problems but this time after the disc has loaded an error message appears mentioning USER ENVIRONMENT and Windows cannot create a user profile etc, then a box appears stating PREINSTALLATION with four sections one is Plug and PLAY which keeps stating waitng for then starts to burn to HD which before used to take a couple of hours to complete but after 7 hours it still continued to restore.
Thanx in advance.

Hi Pockets, if you have access to another pc, try d/loading ubd (ultimate boot disk) it has many diagnostic tools for checking for hdd problems, boot sector checking, antivirus progs, etc... you need to be able to burn it to disc and boot from that disc, it may be a little daunting at first but i suggest look at the anti virus section first, the hdd checks and then. maybe the boot sector tools, don't change anything in there you are not sure of. another thing maybe try removing your memory sticks clean the edges gently with a soft cloth, and puting them back one at a time testing each one first, may be a problem there,

Good Luck,

Mole
