Samsung was early out of the gate on Friday, ahead of the Mobile World Congress taking place in Spain this week. The company announced its new Soul phone, which it will debut this week. The Soul name comes from an abbreviation of the phrase "The Spirit of Ultra."
The Soul is Samsung's flagship product for 2008. Once you see the pictures of this new phone, you'll understand why. It's a slider phone that is only 12.9 mm thick. The other standout feature of this phone is the Magical Touch by DaCP technology incorporated into it, which allows indicators on the keypad to change depending upon your needs. Also extremely impressive is the phone's 5 mexapixel camera. Of course, these days new phones don't usually ship without some music support, and the Soul is no exception. It will support a number of music files, such as MP3, WMA, e-AAC+, midi, imelody, wave, and MMF. If you don't like the music on your microSD card, which is also supported, then you can just turn on the FM radio on the phone, which includes RDS technology.
