Octagon SX88 V2 - French channels on 5 degrees west?

Could someone tell me whether the Ocatgon SX88 V2 can receive the French channels free to air on 5 degrees west? I'm told that the SF8008 will receive these channels but the dealer I've contacted wasn't sure about the SX88 V2.

Brief background - I've currently got a Technomate 5402HD. I'd like to replace it with a box which is 4k, can rotate my dish, can receive a wide range of channels and preferably has wi-fi.

I've been pointed to the Octagon boxes. But if there is anything else obvious I should consider in the same price range, I'd welcome thoughts too.

Many thanks in advance.

All French channels @ 5°west are received on my Octogon SX88+ / SX888 Optima / SX88+ 4K UHD / Golden Eurostar/ Edision Primo S2.
The SX88 V2 is not available here atm.

I've since bought an Octagon SX88 V2 with the latest Open VIX (6.4 I think). I've scanned 5 degrees west and while the channels are there at a good signal strength, I can't resolve any of them. Is it because I'm using Open VIX? Is there something else I should be doing to see these channels FTA?

Can someone help with this please? Is there something I should be doing with the settings of the SX88 V2 to receive the French channels on 5 degrees west?

I'm using an Octagon SX88 V2 with the latest Open VIX (6.4 ). I've scanned 5 degrees west and while the French channels there have a good signal, I can't resolve them. As the box is multi-stream, I thought they'd be FTA. Is it because I'm using Open VIX? Is there something else I should be doing to see these channels FTA?

What channels are you looking for name a few and we can test for you. You could also try a channels list from the plugins menu of your receiver. You might have a settings wrong.

Dont have box , so dont tell for sure ,but instead of scanning satellite You can try some enigma2 setting list, for example ciefp e2 settings
On my SF8008 channels work that way

I've just looked at a couple of french channels on 5w and they open but they are encrypted so you need to make sure you have access to a server that has these channels.

Some are encrypted , but not all of them
Channels on 12372 V 29500 8/9 8PSK and 12648 V 29500 8/9 are FTA , but multistream , so probably in manual scan something missing or is wrong , PLS mode or PLS code for example

Thanks both. France 3 and 5 described as "clear HD" by Lyngsat so I had expected to receive them FTA with a multistream receiver. I'd be grateful for advice on how I can rectfy this.

My apologies for mixing threads. I'm using Open VIX as my interface. Could you tell me where I go to find the Ciefp enigma 2 settings list?

There are versions of france 3 and france 5 that are free to air. As advised before install a channel lists from plugins menu. Usually Menu, Plugins, Green button download pluggins and a channel list is called settings.

Thank you. Please bear with me, I'm a beginner. I have installed the Ciefp settings but, despite their description, they do not include 5 degrees west.

Or to be more precise my Octagon SX88 is not seeing information for 5 degrees west. If I unzip the files on my PC I can see four files which relate to 5 west but I'm not seeing them when installed on the Octagon.

You have to download Ciefp settings , extact file , find motor 42E - 30W file and then extact that file
Open Dreamboxedit on Your PC , find that motor 42E-30W file from with in , upload it , You will now see various bouquets , satellites , packages etc etc
Configure all needed data in Dreamboxedit , I.P. of your box , username , pass and send settings in Octagon
Dreamboxedit and Octagon have to be on same network
