Hi Kevin (and all) :)

Hope you're feeling ok after your knife accident.
Time heals. ;)
Already played the guitar again (only few minutes the last three days - not longer, because my play doesn´t improve anyway).

Played around with Studio One a bit, but it´s not too much fun, because my MIDI keyboards are standing a bit far away from my pc monitor and my pc keyboard and then recording is not easy. In addition - wearing headphones all the time sucks.
I should attach pc speakers. Would have to buy some, but have no idea where to place them, because I haven´t got enough empty space.

I already connected an adapter audio cable that I just bought, to the speaker OUT of my Presonus USB audio box and then plugged the other end of the cable into AUX of my Cambridge Soundworks pc speakers. This leads to some strange noises in the speakers. (Not too bad, but irritating)
Either my speakers don´t seem to be well enough shielded against radio / mobilphone, etc. waves or the audio box is responsible.
Not knowing where to place new speakers and if the improve the situation, I´m hesitating to buy a pair of active speakers. In addition I would need one more empty 230V socket. Maybe I should dispose of my old speakers and buy a new 5.1 set, but the good ones give new problems, where to place a big subwoofer in my office. (My small Cambridge Soundworks subwoofers fit below my office desk - new subwoofers won´t.

Today I fiddled around with your (shelved) MoS. Can imagine, you want to leave it behind you for some time, because it reminds you of bad times and at the moment it´s better to soothe your mind with positive thoughts.

Maybe later I will create a MoS version with (light) compressor + my added beat of cymbal, anyhow. (Just, to store it for later times.)
I already uploaded here "MoS with compressor" and "MoS with Cymbal" before, as you know, but never both combined.
I perhaps maybe add some sounds from the new PresenceXT sampler or from the new MaiTai synthesizer to another recording. (in case I should get some idea).
MaiTai is not included in the free Version of Studio One, "Studio One Prime", but PresenceXT is. (Should you ever like to try.)

But of course I´m curious about
blues song which is much better
I will be recording a video for it, but may take a few weeks.
Nice. Then hopefully your YouTube uploads may gain some more mouseclicks. :)

My last uploaded keyboard song in my post above was rather meant as a joke - just to show, how tired the 40+ °C made me. I wouldn´t have wanted to listen to music faster than that song during the hot days. LOL :D

-------

40 Degrees? wow, that's HOT
My outdoor thermometer even showed maximum 44 °C last week on my balcony. The first time ever.
Luckily since monday we´ve gone down to 21 °C at daytime and only ~16 °C at night. Just heard on the news: "Good news for all sun worshippers. Next week we´re going to see another heat wave."
I hate it.

-------

happy to say my dad is nearly fully recovered and my mum is now healing well.
Some good news, at least.
Hope they´ll soon be able to get back to normal life. :thum:

-------

AIR (there were times when the word SKY got erased on some boards and replaced by ***, that why I avoided the real names.)
load of rubbish that you have to pay to watch PLUS loads of adverts too
Yes, that´s why I cancelled my subscription. The amount of ads is rising and you have to use their closed hardware that doesn´t even allow you to transfer recordings from FTA channels to a pc. I could live with not being able to transfer the encrypted SKY recordings, but I won´t accept to get stopped from storing free stuff from other FTA providers.
On monday I already sent back my smartcard (4 days before the end of my contract - so they can´t maintain that i used their smartcard longer in my dreambox).
Now I´ve still got FTA channels and Amazon Prime Instant Video (which I rarely used up to now) and lots of bought 2D/3D blu-ray discs. (Still haven´t watched ~20 new bought blu-rays and many more new bought DVDs. I´m oversupplied. Don´t know, when to watch all the stuff.)
-------

Haha, glad you've got the Strongbow - always classed it as a great cider (although I only drink Carlsberg lager these days)
I gave away the Somersby - which, by the way, - is by Carlsberg. ;)

Had some german beer (PILS) the last days, too. (Never mixed it with Strongbow cider the same evening, of course. Either beer or cider.
But Strongbow really is better than Somersby - except for people who want sweet drinks).
Maybe one day I´ll try Merrydown cider (7.5% alcohol ). ...
-------

Today I´m curious whether I´ll get Windows 10 or not. On my pc No. 1 I´ve got a 6.52 GB big folder named $Windows.~BT and this should contain the Windows 10 files, but I didn´t yet get the message from Microsoft, that I could upgrade now.

http://microsoft-news.com/microsoft-starts-pushing-windows-10-to-users-who-reserved-it/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3ewa8r/psa_here_is_how_to_check_if_windows_10_is/

Seems as if I don´t get it, yet. No need to hurry.

Have a good time (all)

Hi Franz,
Hope you're good on this sunny Sunday afternoon. Been playing your latest tune - very enjoyable for a summer's day as I sit outside (with a Carlsberg of course!)

I should attach pc speakers
Agreed there - I've tried many years ago recording with headphones - hate them - I always find the various instruments / tracks recorded sound completely different from listening through speakers (which is what you ultimately do when the song is finished)

Either my speakers don´t seem to be well enough shielded against radio / mobilphone, etc. waves or the audio box is responsible.
I find I have to keep my phone at least 10 feet away from my plugged in speakers or the interference is bad.

Maybe later I will create a MoS version with (light) compressor + my added beat of cymbal, anyhow. (Just, to store it for later times.)
Yes, feel free :thum: and you're right - it was getting me down - just too dark for me at the moment, but will come back to it at some point.

I watched the Studio One vids (Mai Tai and Presence XT) that is really awesome stuff - makes my Mixcraft sound pre-historic! Sadly, I'd have to buy a much up-rated machine for such software, so it's cheap-and-cheerful Mixcraft for me for now!

You gave away the Sommersby? thought you liked it? Haven't tried Merrydown, but I've heard of it - at 7.5% I don't think I'll be trying it too soon...I like to sip all afternoon (on Sunday) on my beer - hence 3.8% Carlsberg. If I sipped all afternoon on Merrydown, I think I'd wake up Tuesday!

Today I´m curious whether I´ll get Windows 10 or no
I've heard 10 is more of a labarynth than 8 ...and I hate 8 lol. Good luck - I'm sticking with my Win7 Pro.

I've attached my latest blues tune - only 46 seconds long, but been so busy with work (I'm a Gardener so not much time to work on my songs at the moment) Quite pleased with it so far - it's an upbeat "swingy" kind of blues...I may just complete it as music only without lyrics.

All the best my friend (and cat)

Take care and speak soon! :thum:

Hi Kevin (and all) :)

Today I´m fed up with sitting in front of my two pcs refusing to install Windows 10 the whole day.

I´m having exactly the same problem as reported here:
http://www.tenforums.com/installation-setup/9732-windows-10-couldnt-installed-error-code-80070005-a.html

Will try deinstalling some software tomorrow (Norton Security / Acronis True Image, etc.) and maybe succeed then.
Otherwise I will have to install a clean Win 8.1 from setup cd twice (two pcs) and then install and configure all my programs again.
Guess this would keep me busy for more than a week.
-------

I should attach pc speakers
Agreed there
Problem is: No more space left on my office desk. Nearly no free space to even write a simple note with a penball onto a piece of paper. ...

Therefore, if I bought new speakers I would have to throw away the existing ones. Maybe I´ll do some day, but first comes Windows 10 and then I will wait what bill my dentist will send me  (next month, I want some things to get done) and then I may decide if/what I can afford.

I´m using two pairs of speakers with two subwoofers, nowadays. (Similar to this, but in white with slightly different subwoofer model: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_XeFNd7qrY

Guess I may replace them with CREATIVE speakers again. E.g.
Gigaworks T20
Gigaworks T40
would maybe buy two pairs for quadro sound (pc games) again.

Could as well buy a more expensive Logitech 5.1 system, but would then need a solution where to place a centerspeaker and a rather cubic subwoofer (no good idea for the latter to put under my office desk, where my feet usually are).

I find I have to keep my phone at least 10 feet away from my plugged in speakers or the interference is bad.
Maybe my office phone (wireless DECT) is too close to my speakers, too, but having the same problem - where else to place it.
(Don´t want to drill lots of holes into the wall behind my pc monitor and attach some devices there.)
-------

MoS
it was getting me down
Guess, blues fits to your situation better than rock, at this moment.
Rock music helps to riot against annoying things that could (with good will) maybe easily be overcome.
Blues is rather helpful in situations that we can´t control, but want to complain about. (To relieve our minds.) Shouting / "rocking" against diseases doesn´t really help and I guess you felt this somehow after some time working on the song. ;)
You should perhaps later continue with it, in case you found another topic (annoying but controllable circumstances) that you may like to write lyrics about.

At this moment, I´m so worn out from sitting in front of my pc monitor yesterday and today, that I don´t understand my own sentences above any more.:eek:
Hope, I didn´t write rubbish.
-------

I watched the Studio One vids (Mai Tai and Presence XT) that is really awesome stuff - makes my Mixcraft sound pre-historic! Sadly, I'd have to buy a much up-rated machine for such software, so it's cheap-and-cheerful Mixcraft for me for now!
(Yes. nice new sounds inside of StudioOne)
But the only thing that counts is, that you´re satisfied with the result that your software allows you to record. Maybe one day you buy another laptop and then you try free version of StudioOne. :)

One thing that may not be so good (I don´t know) with Mixcraft, though:
If it´s not recording different instruments and voices into separate tracks, you may later regret it. (We mentioned this, already, but yesterday I got reminded of this again.)

Yesterday I heard some well known DJs say on tv, that they produced remixes of old records from the 80´s. The remixes contain the young voices of now older artists.
Getting asked, how they could modernize the old records to let them sound fresh like new (new instruments, new style), they said, that the artists gave them their original tapes with all recorded vocals/instruments on separate tracks.
So the DJs could use whatever they liked, e.g. play new music on new tracks and combine it with old 80´s vocals.

If you ever want to do something similar (add instruments / vary melodies) with your songs (maybe some day your voice doesn´t work well any more, but you still play the guitar), you can´t easily extract vocals from the rest.

If Mixcraft allows you to store separate tracks (at least seperate vocals and instruments tracks), I would always keep/store them as a project. Not delete them, when you mixed a final stereo mp3 file. ;)
-------

You gave away the Sommersby? thought you liked it?
First thought so, but then noticed that it´s too sweet and artificial (especially pear and black berry). If you haste it down, you don´t notice. Then it´s like sweet, artificial flavoured lemonade.
If you want to sip it slowly - no way! Sticks on your tongue.

If I sipped all afternoon on Merrydown, I think I'd wake up Tuesday!
LOL
(Had a guest last week and I had more than usual: three beer (1.5 liter) plus two Strongbow apple cider (1 liter - because no more beer left). Felt dizzy for two days. (getting old ...) ...
-------

I've heard 10 is more of a labarynth than 8 ...and I hate 8 lol. Good luck - I'm sticking with my Win7 Pro.
Had no real big problems with windows 8 or 8.1.
(The corrupt files, I once reported, weren´t corrupt and the problem got fixed by Microsoft. No corrupt files on my pc.).

Never used the Win7 START button (that other people obviously don´t want to live without) before anyway, so no loss for me, when it got removed in windows 8.

In win8.1 it returned and I nearly don´t notice any difference to win7.
(I´m working a lot with the right mouse button and popup menus and then it´s all the same.)

I like in win8 e.g. that you can copy and paste a fiile (e.g. a 4 GB mkv recording) and while the file has not been fully transfered, yet you can copy and paste some text in Office.
(In win7 you would have to wait until the whole 4 GB file copy has finished - and win8 in addition even tells you the "copy speed" - you can see, if a USB stick / harddrive works fast or slowly.
There are some more improvements and I wouldn´t want to go back to win7, although I´ve got two unused Win7 copies at home. (I even got three Win7 setup cds - but one of them got used for my win8pro upgrade)

I´m rarely using the new METRO surface at all - mainly only working on the desktop like in win7.
-------

I've attached my latest blues tune - only 46 seconds long,
46 seconds - very advantageous, because it´s already late in the evening, I´m very tired, still have to feed the cat and had no supper, yet, but I urgently want to listen to your song this evening (maybe tomorrow I can´t, should I be installling win8.1 anew) and if it was twenty minutes long, it should be mighty good ... :D
I hope 46 seconds of music will download quickly and if I like it, I can even repeat it. ...

...

Couldn´t wait ...
- NICE beginning :thum: for a not so blue blues. Curious for more. ...
Will repeat it once more (or twice) but then quickly shut down my pc.

Have a nice time (all)

Hi Kevin (and all) :)

Hope, you´re all fine.:thum:

As I predicted, I had to newly install Windows 8.1 on my pc no.1 in order to get Windows 10.
My windows update window said I could install Windows 10, but it didn´t work. I uninstalled Norton Security and Acronis and some other programs, but the upgrade still didn´t work - just the opposite - Windows 8.1 update didn´t work any more and Microsoft FixIt couldn´t fix it.

I was fed up, trying to repair things and therefore formatted my system harddrive, installed everything anew and lost my Presonus project on your MoS song, because it was only stored on C:.

I still would be able to retore this project from my Acronis backup, but it is easier to just import your mp3 song (I stored it outside C:) into an empty track, and do things new. I imported your mp3 and added compressor, already when I installed latest Studio One update anew, which got released last week.

By the way:
Free "Presonus Studio One Prime" was only released last week, too. Didn´t know it wasn´t available before, although listed on Presonus website.
---

Win 10:
Took me two days to install and configure all programs on my pc no.1, but now things work better than before. :)

Was afraid; I would have to go through the same procedure with my pc no.2, but miracle
..., I found a message on the desktop, telling me kind of "Now you can upgrade to Windows 10".

Two mouseclicks and then some minutes of watching the black upgrade screen and my pc restarting three times and all was done. Very very very simple :clapping:
Just two more mouseclicks and I was back on my desktop, which looked nearly the same as I had left it, but now it was Windows 10.
99 % of my settings were unchanged and no program was lost. :clapping:

Perhaps I should have been more patient with my pc no.1, too and only should have waited long enough until the upgrade message would have appeared. ...

So, for all reading here, who registered for Win 10 and who still have not got it:
Perhaps just be patient and wait some more time. ;)

Remark: Just (unnecessarily) deleted most of my attachments here (only the ones that got downloaded only once or twice).
I had tried to "quick upload" a photo of my new win 10 desktop before, but couldn´t, because I got the message "not possible, you reached maximum".

But deleting my attachments didn´t help. Quick uploads are of an own category and I can´t delete anything unimportant from them - like e.g. pic of my cat or a pic of a christmas tree ... to get new empty space).

So, I attached the pic as "normal" attachment.
(With win-explorer-preview-pic of a garden, of course. It´s a photo manipulated with GIMP 2.8 and G'MIC plugin.)
---

Today, too hot for more. (TV + pc game and cool drinks this afternoon.)
We´ll presumably be going through at least another seven more hot days until next saturday, in our city and my head is boiling now, already.
Even my new Thai neighbour, who came here last year, is surprised about the heat in my country. ...

Have a good time (all) :thum:

Hi all :)

This morning, when feeding my cat, first contact with an animal never seen before in my life.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hummingbird_hawk-moth

Big insect - one could think it was a hummingbird, if it were a bit bigger.
Two YouTube vids (slow motion):

Sorry - the second video can only be watched on YouTube (shows insect with camera from above)

Have a good time, all :)

Hi Franz,

Hope you're well. Sorry, haven't been on here for a while as SU site keeps going down :(

Glad you finally got the Win10 upgrade sorted (via 8.1!) :thum:

Lovely videos! Over here, we have a show called Springwatch where they hide cameras in all sorts of places to just film that sort of thing - I love it.

Problem is: No more space left on my office desk. Nearly no free space to even write a simple note with a penball onto a piece of paper. ...
Haha - maybe you should get some wireless ones (if they exist) or wired ones to the wall.

Have you ever heard of Windows Installer Error 1619? I have Serif Video Producer which I bought from ebay for only £5 but it is for XP and Vista. It's like new, but spent all day yesterday trying to load it on my Win7. I've googled about 1619 but nothing seems to work. It begins loading from cd then comes up with that error

Also, do you still have a copy of MoS (the version you lightly compressed as I seem to have completely lost it - what a weekend it's been!

On the plus side, I successfully completed my firs home made biquad antenna - my wireless internet was 1-2mbps, now it's 10 :D

Anyway, all the best my friend and speak soon :clapping:

Hi Kevin (and all) :)

Windows Installer Error 1619
I admit, I just only googled it, too but there seems to be a hotfix available for this problem, if you haven´t already installed it.

On the following link the error gets explained and you find a download button for the hotfix.
Hope, it will work for you. ;)

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/316309

I don´t know, how the hotfix affects your WindowsXP installation.

You may perhaps better make a backup of your system, before.
If you haven´t already got a system image backup software, you could download Paragon Backup and Recovery Free 2014 for this purpose.
(Specs say, it works with Windows XP - I was successfully using it on my pc no.2 with win8.1 - and now with win10)

http://www.paragon-software.com/home/br-free/download.html

Don´t forget to create a Paragon rescue disc (DVD) with the program.
Then save your system onto an external Harddrive or onto a set of DVDs.
(No good idea to backup onto the drive that you want to backup.)

In emergency case you can boot your laptop from the rescue DVD, should you need to restore your backup onto your laptop.
(Hope you know, how to boot your laptop from a bootable disc.)

If you backup your whole system onto a set of DVDs instead onto an external hdd - the first DVD of the whole disc set, is the bootable one, then.

I recommend this system backup, because I guess that the Microsoft hotfix mentioned above may be a bigger "Service Pack".
If you back up your laptop with Paragon before, then you can restore everything without loss.

But you already tried things that didn´t work. Hope this hotfix wasn´t among your repair attempts?
-------

Glad you finally got the Win10 upgrade sorted (via 8.1!) :thum:
Thx. :)
Now found out, who´s to blame that windows 10 upgrade didn´t work on my pc no.1.
Windows 10 was NOT guilty!!!

The manufacturer of my pc had ruined my windows 8.1 installation in a way, that a Win 10 upgrade couldn´t work.
He must have used a cloning tool (for SSDs) that reduces the size of the start partition of harddrives to only 100 MB. I always used a (faulty) backup of his windows 8.1 installation. Only now (Win10 upgrade) for the first time, I used the original Microsoft setup DVD.
Normal start partition size should be 350 MB. The setup DVD created it correctly.

New windows 10 won´t upgrade the existing windows 7/8/8.1, if it doesn´t find a 350 MB start partition to install its boot files onto.

My second pc had 350 MB start partition and there the upgrade worked without the slightest problem. A little kid from kindergarten could have done it.

If I had known this before, I could have avoided reinstallation of windows 8.1 + all programs on my affected pc no.1.
I should only have used a "partition manager" to increase the size of my starting partition from 100 MB to 350 MB.

Well, I don´t mind: Got rid of some old stuff when installing windows 8.1 anew. ;)
-------

pc speakers
Haha - maybe you should get some wireless ones (if they exist) or wired ones to the wall.
Wireless would only work for the rear ones. Enough space to place them - wired or wireless - no probs.
The front speakers I wouldn´t want to attach to the wall. Pc monitor, big laser printer and Co. in front of them would spoil the sound.
Problem just is. The speakers I´ve got now, they fit ideally into the place and they have a very good sound. I could even successfully connect them to the audio box with an adapter cable and get the sound from it. Because the speakers have "line in" + "AUX" I could even use them with my pc plus my audiobox at the same time. Successfully tried it.
BUT: The connectors are old and this leads to (crackling) sound problems. (loose contacts, noises, etc.)
If I was trained in repairing and soldering electronic devices, I would do this with my existing speakers. Replace volume knobs of the subwoofers, fix connectors, etc..

Some noises I guess were produced by radiowaves or telephone and I would be very disappointed after purchase of new speakers, if these noises would still exist.
But I guess I´ll buy new speakers this year, after I know, what i will have to pay to my dentist.
We don´t get health care for free in my country. Tooth crowns may be expensive. May cost me some hundred € next month. Therefore I don´t want to spend money now, but only later. (There shouldn´t be any problems, but I prefer paying with cash that I own and not with money that I lent from my bank. ;) )

Also, do you still have a copy of MoS (the version you lightly compressed as I seem to have completely lost it - what a weekend it's been!
I´ve got only the original mp3.
The version with compresseor and symbal, I must create anew. So I imported MoS.mp3 into StudioOne already and applied compressor. I will then have to find the spot(s) again, where the song produces clipping. I can reduce the loudness there by use of automation. and then I´ll add the cymbal beat again.
Later I may try more - but first I only want a version that doesn´t change so much of your work. ;)
-------

On the plus side, I successfully completed my firs home made biquad antenna - my wireless internet was 1-2mbps, now it's 10 :D
Wow!
That´s what I call a difference! :thum:
How did you do it?

(Found a howto in german - http://www.tresselt.de/download/Wlanprojekt.pdf - guess that´s something similar?)

If I hadn´t got wired DSL, I would certainly try to build such an antenna myself, too. Must be fun building it and when it´s done, if it works well, then. ;)
-------

The only thing I´ll perhaps do the next week, could be flashing my two dreamboxes completely new - not using backups.
(Maybe only later in colder weather, because it´s still as hot and dry here in Germany as it hasn´t been the last 50 years - we even expect another ten days like this - maybe thunderstorm coming saturday, but then hot and dry again.)

Found a nice new sat receiver, that one day perhaps, I can´t resist to buy.
AX Quadbox HD2400 (allows up to 7 tuners - two built in, two additional internal plug-in tuners addable + 3 external USB tuners attachable / HDMI out + HDMI in / GBit LAN and more delicious stuff.)
Would be a nice new toy to play with. But ... the dentist, the pc speakers ... first ...
-------

My post a novel again ...

Have a nice time (all) :thum:

Hi Franz,

Thanks for the info, but I tried the hotfix (Win7) but no luck. Anyway, I removed Win 7 and re-installed with a Linux Mint dual boot. Since the fresh install, Serif x3 is now working!

I also installed Linux as I hear they have a good production software too called Open Shot, which I will look into.

Oh dear - glad your Windows problem finally got sorted!

Yes, it's the same type. My next project is going to be a double biquad (twice the size!) :thum:

Same here with the dentist - basic check up is free if you're not working (which I am) and other dental care costs ££s

Thanks for your help regarding MoS - only when you have time ;)

Found a nice new sat receiver, that one day perhaps, I can´t resist to buy.
I'm looking to get an IPTV box which can record and of course ahem...decode...but new to it so studying them online at the moment!

All the best my friend (and cat)

Speak soon...Kev :D

Hi Kevin (andd all). :)

For heaven´s sake - I didn´t read your post on windows installer error 1619 carefully enough. What a shame! Sorry for this. :(

You´re using win7, but only the new software, Serif Video Producer,
... is for XP and Vista. It's like new, but spent all day yesterday trying to load it on my Win7.
Oooops! The heat in my area ... my low blood pressure even lower than usual.
Forgot my medicine, took the wrong pills at the wrong time the last days - so confused was I. Spent most of the time inside my dimmed out flat. Was sometimes even staggering, due to drowsiness. (Without influence of beer or cider.)

Since the fresh install, Serif x3 is now working!
Good to hear. :)

If I had read carefully enough before, I would probably have supposed that on your old win7 installation there was s.th. wrong with "permissions".
Too late now - you fixed this already with the new win7 installation.
---

My next project is going to be a double biquad (twice the size!) :thum:
Hope, it will outclass the existing antenna, but don´t know how much gain you can expect by doubling the size.
---

I'm looking to get an IPTV box which can record and of course ahem...decode...but new to it so studying them online at the moment!
Guess, there isn´t an all in one solution on the market (?), but maybe your box + an hdmi splitter + hdmi in (recording device) could work.
Read s.th. of this kind somewhere.

Haven´t tried anything like this on my own. My problem in such cases: sooner or later, collecting too much material leads to an overkill. Spending lot of time with recording, cutting, perhaps burning to disc or storing elsewhere, keeps you from watching the stuff.
Nowadays already, I can´t even watch all the recordings, that fta tv allows me to make.
I receive more than 20 fta HDTV stations (german national tv) and lots of SDTV stations. Won´t even record "Oblivion" with Tom Cruise (720p resolution - unencrypted - without adverts) next monday, because my harddrive is filled.

I should perhaps sometimes use my Amazon fire tv streaming box, but only used it three or four times this year for only short time. ...
In addition I still have a lot of unwatched blu-rays that I bought for homecinema days with a friend.
(Last week at least I had the chance to watch Jupiter ascending 3D / Baymax 3D / Ratatouille 3D / Interstellar 2D from blu-ray, because my neighbours weren´t at home. Don´t want to torture them with extremely loud 7.1 / 5.1 Cinema Sound too often. ...)
---

Thanks for your help regarding MoS - only when you have time ;)
(Help, that you do not really need.)
I made a version, Im not completly satisfied with. Applied light compressor and added cymbal beat, BUT I couldn´t find the sample of the original beat and used another one.

I perhaps shouldn´t have transposed this cymbal beat (-2 whatever = deeper sound). I first thought it sounded too high and now, listening again, I think it´s too low.
Overall: It´s a different sample. I didn´t find the original wav file. Perhaps I may come across it again, because I liked it more (open hihat). Have to browse through the files once more.
(Maybe the soundpool changed when I upgraded to version3 of Studio One Artist.)

Meanwhile I attached my audiobox to my pc speaker (although there are noises).
I think my pc is interfering with the box or the audio connctor cable - may be it´s not shielded well enough or the box isn´t. Both are situated close together in my office.

The noise in the speakers (a not too loud high tone - only when the audiobox is connected to usb port) is a bit confusing, but it doesn´t get recorded and it´s better working with my pc speakers than wearing headphones during hot weather.

Don´t know, what I have to change with my mp3 export settings in Studio One. The filesize of your song got blown up, although it´s 192 Kbps like the original.

Hope you like it anyway. ;)

Have a nice weekend (all) :thum:

Hi Franz,

Hope you're feeling ok now?

Having looked into the Amazon Firestick, I don't believe there's a way to record the streams off them, so that one's finished for now :(

Yes, the double biquad should increase gain to about 13-15db so looking forward to that :thum:

The noise in the speakers (a not too loud high tone - only when the audiobox is connected to usb port) is a bit confusing, but it doesn´t get recorded
That's a good sign then - means it's not internal interference :thum:

Thankyou so much for posting MoS again - thought I'd lost it for good! :clapping:

Anyway off to work now so all the best and speak soon my friend!

Kev.

Hi Kevin (and all) :)

Hope you're feeling ok now?
Much better than before :), but blood pressure is still low (100/70).
(Should drink some cidre, perhaps - didn´t have a drink since last week. ;))

We had some cold days here that were helpful, but now we´re expecting some sunny days again - hopefully not 40+ °C any more.
I can live well with 30 °C at daytime and 20 °C at night. Then the rooms don´t get too hot. (We had many nights with 29 °C, when it was still too hot to sleep.)
---

Didn´t have time for Studio One this week. Too busy all the time.
Thursday and Friday afternoon, I spent my time flashing my two dreamboxes anew with latest Merlin firmware and installing plugins and configuring them.
Still got a problem with my harddrives to solve, though. They are not mounted the way intended to be.
I can access them but not unmount them or test filesystem, because the harddrive somehow seems to have got faulty entries in fstab. Dreambox can´t delete these entries itself.
Have to find out, how to solve that. Still don´t know, how.
-------

Rarely touched my guitar, but did twice or thrice (... the weird sisters grinned - Macbeth) throughout this week.
With colder temperatures outside my fingers are/were even more numb than ususal.

Thankyou so much for posting MoS again - thought I'd lost it for good! :clapping:
But you haven´t downloaded it (,yet). ... ;):D

Hopefully it´s going on well with your new Blues1.
You´ll rather be working more with the new video software at the moment though, I guess.
-------

Noticed a similar sat-box on the market like the AX Quadbox HD 2400 that I mentioned in one of my posts above.
The Mutant HD 2400 sat-receiver linux e2 seems to have the same specs and price.
Seem to be nice boxes, both. One third the price of a dm8000 but more speed and features (GBit LAN / hardware HDMI IN).

Maybe one day I can´t resist. But I will wait for at least some more Amaton reviews. Those for the Quadbox look fine, already. ;)
-------

Now time for breakfast (At 2:22 pm, although I stood up at 8 am - too busy today).
Have a nice weekend (all) :thum:

embroidering

Hi, all :)

I thank myself for my last useless posting :D and add another one - this one - just to keep this thread alive.

Keyword Thread:
I just started embroidering and let you have a look at my first result (a dark grey scarf with little yellow dog logo. Bad, quality reduced foto being taken without photoflash.)

Wore the scarf yesterday outside the house, talking to a neighbour.
A mum with little (guessed 4 year old) girl went by. Girl looked at my scarf - indetermined - then at my face - back at my scarf - face - scarf ... while walking past me - being dragged by her mothers hands. Guess the dog was too much for her. ;)

With this scarf I´ll be a bugbear for kids  (maybe at least on halloween). ;)

Have a nice time, all. :)

Thx. :D

Should perhaps stitch the Sat Universe logo onto a T-Shirt? ;)

As an experiment I just copied (with Microsoft Snipping Tool) and pasted it into my embroidery software.
Best quality would need thirteen colours (threads), acceptable quality could even be achieved with only four colours (threads).

Would be interesting if anybody (perhaps SU member) in my city would recognize the logo. But I guess I would have to walk through the city for a looong time, until this may happen.
(My poor legs!) ;)

Hi Kevin.

First view, only a glimpse ...

Nice, very nice :D:D:D
Well done:thum::clapping:

Should give you (I very much hope so) a lot more views on YouTube, when the whole clip is filled with video.

Just watched a documentary about the 60ies/70ies, yesterday. One subject among other topics was, how important pictures were to the youth then, (they still are, nowadays) when they were listening to (psychedelic) music. Video for everybody didn´t exist then and so bands just only chose different colour effects in their background when performing on stage.
In the past and nowadays pictures accompanying music are important. Just imagine the following two bands performing on an empty stage.
The coloured background does a lot to enhance the feeling/atmosphere and the same does your new video. :)

These two music examples of course are nice without video (colour effects) already, but better with. ;)

Have a nice time (all)

Wow! Very nice ballad! :)
(Chris Rea couldn´t have done it better. ;))

A harmonic song, one can listen to at Christmas and other times of the year, of course.

Recommended for everybody to download. :thum:

Have a wonderful christmas, Kevin
and all reading here.
