New to IPBOX 9000

Hi everyone,

I am expecting my new box in a couple of days,(I used to have a REELBOX so don't laugh) and looking at some of the posts I think I may have a bit of work to do!

First request, will it take a Viaccess card with out any programming of the cam slot or card reader (my dealer sais it will work out of the box) if it does not wor how do I go about it?

Do I need this U Boot to upload software from a USB stick? and were do I get it?

And lastly, well for the moment is there an up to date manual or additions to the February issue?

Excellent forum this only found it by accident.

Thanks Luli,

I have had look but cannot find any thing, could you point me in the right direction, although as the dealer said it would work I might just send it back to them for a refund.

viacces card it will work,but you need an upgrade with sif team image with cams like mgcamd.yes you need U boot .

Hi Luli,

Dealer says just leave the card in the slot for an hour and it will set it self?? if that is not true! were do I find U boot sif team image and mgcamd I do not have the experience for this.

Hi to all,

When I try to flash a new image I get "serial upgrade" not USB upgrade, what am I doing wrong or have I got a very old image in a new box?

how are you trying to flash the image (what buttons are you pressing?) I assume you have got flash tools from the top of the page? you will find the images under sifteam xxx post

H,

Thanks for the info, I have found the USB upgrade by pressing the up button (last on right) and flashed the r7473 (at the office) will try it out at home tonight.
What is the "sifteam"? will this sort out my viacess card, and is the dealer right? (leave the card in for an hour)

sifteam is a group that release images,for our boxes, NLB is another group. Once you have loaded your sifteam image on you will then need to download the plugins, Nlb include the cams in there releases.

Press menu on your remote,then plugins, and the sif install. From here you need to install mgcamd,evocamd. (these are two versions of emulators for the cam). You can switch cam by going into the menu, plugins and set cam. you will then need to ftp in some softcam keys for the emulators, and finally red on the remote will start and stop the cam whilst watching a channel.

So the dealers idea won't work then?
sorry but as newbie to linux are the mgcamd and evocamd in the "sif image" and where do you get the keys? please give us a idiots guide for what to do, and I was told that viacess would work right of the box.

read my above post m8 it says how to install the plugins (evocamd mgcamd etc). Look at the top of the forum and there is a post for ipbox keys, download them from there

You can't read your card with just mgcamd or evocamd, they need newcs to connect to with does the actual card reading.

Don't know the specifics related to ipbox9000 as I don't have that box. But as far as I understand some images have mgcamd and newcs available as addons, sifteam I believe, so you install them from addon menu.
I assume most of the configuration files are fine by default, so you should just try running mgcamd and see if the card is working.
Important files are in /var/keys folder, mg_cfg, newcamd.list and in /var/tuxbox/config newcs.xml (again, not having ipbox I am not sure these file paths are correct).

Important config options you can check are in mg_cfg it should be:
G: { 01 } to have mgcamd use newcamd client mode.


In newcamd.list you should have something like this:
CWS_KEEPALIVE = 300
CWS_INCOMING_PORT = 12000
CWS = 127.0.0.1 10000 username password 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 lan newcs

Which has to correlate with data in newcs.xml

hope you can see which values are related.
You don't have to use these, I just gave an example. If they are matching in default configs installed in sifteam image you don't have to change them.

I Don't mean to sound rude, but all the information is available on the site, have a read for a few days like the rest of us do, then when ur stuck ask.
Then when someone answers you you may know what they mean.

Yes rude it sounds!
This is a brand new box which I still can not use. I have spent time looking and all though I have pieced some of it together I am still way of knowing what to look for let alone doing it.

So lets be helpful t one another.

If you use Sifteam image, download emu mgcamd-1.30d_newcs-160b from sif_install.plugin. Before uploading files with ftp programme to the box, select no emu at Sif_setcam.plugin. Use an ftp programme and upload the files to the box. Replace exciting files at the same directorys (at var/keys, at var/bin and at var/tuxbox/config). Select at Sif_setcam.plugin the mgcamd newcs emu. Restart box and you will be ok. Card will work at both slots of the box. Card must be inserted, with the chip of the card looking down. Files have been tested with viaccess card and been working ok
