your contacts are stored online not on your system so a simple re-install of the msn software should find them again.

i have a old msn account i have not used in several years and certainly not on this laptop but when i sign into it all of the contacts are there.

also try a different message client such as trillian
trillian is a free chat client which easily supports msn / aim / yahoo / icq and more. it only takes a few seconds to setup but works well plus it allows you to use multiple clients at the same time. for example you can chat using a aim account and a msn account at the same time with the same sofware.

a quick tip mate
rather than blanking out a portion of the address to kill it, code the link it will allow it to still be clickable but it will kill any traceback to other sites etc.
