Since this is relatively new Receiver in EU market we decided to wrote this short review
This is on Ali chip based TWIN hd PVR receiver with all the features and for the most demands. Presents excellent cardsharing features without any programming skills necessary. Tthanks to its two HD tuners and internet connection Rj45 you enjoy the most. Doombox 900 HD is pvr ready and has Time-Shift function to program any event recording. It records directly from TV (HD or SD) to any USB device (USB-Sticks, USB-HDD, etc)…
..And there is little more…
With firmware upgraded and secret menus activated, Doombox 900 HD offers you IKS (keys via internet) services, SDS services ( keys via satellite – no need to internet connection), twin protocol ( possibility to connect any third party dongle) and of course most used cardsharing protocols: Cccam and Newcamd. With IKS or SDS activated at the moment receiver opens almost all packages on Astra 19 – Incl. Csat France and D+ with all HD sports and movies channels.

Front panel:
Basic control functions are located on the front panel. Including such as Volume, Menu and conformation ( OK ) buttons. All buttons has blue backlit. Above them is a dark green eight-digit (alphanumeric) display, the contrast can be set via software. For longer names, the text on the screen abruptly moves from right to left.
After lifting the lid on the front side to get to two SmartCard readers and CAS for two CI slots for CA modules. There is also a PVR USB 2.0 port. With latest firmware update Doombox 900 HD smartcard reader turns MultiCas and can recognize several pay tv cards incl. Portuguese MEO.
Rear panel
On the rear panel from left you will find two pairs of F connectors. 2x LNB IN (input from the dish), 2x LNB Loop Out (outputs of set-top box), as well as Ethernet and HDMI port after follows an RS 232 port and below the optical output for Dolby Digital Audio (S / PDIF). Component video output RCA YPbPr - HD, RJ45, CVBS (Composite) Video & Audio Output via RCA - RGB. The last port is SCART. Then it closes the list of rocker power switch and power cord firmly embedded.
Remote control
Remote control is robust and feels really great in hand. Its lower part is with a matt black slip, its upper part is a combination of glossy black, chrome and silver metallic. R/C comes with two AAA batteries.
Description
The receiver has a multilingual graphical user interface OSD (Czech, English, French, Russian, Arabic, Turkish, German, Polish, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Portuguese). Basically it is quite similar to almost all Ali chip based receivers such as GI9966E, Opticum X7 etc. Simple, good graphics, ver “Users-friendly” It has "blind scan" function,8 favorite channel lists.
If you have a receiver connected to the Internet it is possible to upgrade transponder lists directly from King of sat web page. For first time, when you upgrade the firmware , you have to activate “Secret Menu” . enter Menu –Installation and pres 7777. The screen with sharing menu will pop up. As we mention before, Doombox 900 Hd offers several sharing options:
IKS ( keys over internet) – basically it works the same as already well known Protex, Proton or Spiderbox . Conect your Doombox 900 hd with rooter, choose IKS option on and it will give you access to some remote server. All operation is cripted, so we can´t see server location, neither sharing protocol used.
SDS ( or SKS – keys over satellite) is another sharing option very widely used in Latin America finally available also in Europe. This is sharing system without internet connection. For SDS sharing you have to have two dishes installed – the first you put on astar, hotbird, Intelsat etc. (you can even use motor). The second dish is used for data receiving, so you have to point it to Eutelsat W3E 7ºE satellite.
Twin protocol – this option allows connect third party dongles to Doombox900 HD.
Sppp – we still did not find how to use this option.
Cccam ( client only) – there is no need to explain how to use this protocol. Works very stabile even with servers 2.2.1
Newcamd –also don´t need any introduction….
EPG
Electronic Program Guide (EPG) can be displayed for 16 days in advance. The names of the programs are reduced. Each preset can view a detailed description of the broadcast program. EPG also provides a timer.
PVR and multimedia
An external drive formatted in Fat32 or NTFS can be connected to Doombox 900 HD. Recordings in the SD format are stored on disk in a format PS (program stream - compression format for multiplexing digital audio, video and others, but no subtitles or text), or TS (Transport Stream - This format includes all the transmitted information). HD recordings are stored only in the TS. We successfully connect 500 gigabytes external hard drive but Disk 1 TB has not been found.
Final words.
Doombox 900 Hd is excellent and not expensive satellite receiver with really good “extra services” . It is already well known in Spain, Brazil (under the name AZbox Bravo) and Eastern Europe. You don´t need to be Linux guru to operate. The built quality is excellent, the picture quality is very good even on 50 inch Led screen. Even if you don´t pretend to use IKS or SDS or even CS, This is really good HD TWIN receiver to work with your official MEO card.
