I wasn't happy with any of the stbs serving as media players. I thought VU+ would change that but it didn't. It does support more formats then dm800 but that wasn't enough for me and picture quality wasn't that great when playing divx on it.
Not trying to advertise this product but I had to share my joy and how much I was pleased with this purchase. To be honest never even heard about this brand until couple of days ago when I was searching on the net for media players available in local computer shops.

Design is nice, especially glossy piano top. Picture and audio quality is good.
My main goal was something that supports many containers and codecs. This product certainly does.
I've tried playing any video I had and none of them failed.
Very pleasant surprise was that it could play videos from my pc (external hdd attached to my pc atually) over the network as if they were on the usb stick attached to the media player.
And my network is relatively slow considering that there is 2 hops of wifi connection to media player. My PC is connected to wifi router over wifi usb adapter and media player is connected with lan cable to a wifi ap in client mode which is also connected to wifi router. So I wasn't really expecting for this media player to be able to play the movies without picture jittering or some other problems. But it does.
You just enable dhcp in network settings of the al460 and it lists devices it finds in the network. It even finds VU+ duo and can play movies from it's hdd/usb. Which isn't really needed unless you need more control over subtitles. As this media player has really nice options of choosing subtitle size, color and encoding.
It supports wlan connection with wifi usb although I didn't test that.
Here are some of the specs from their website:
There is few things I didn't like:
There is no optical output. It is available in slightly more expensive model AL670 but I didn't find it a necessity for me so I don't care.
There is no option to jump to specific time in the video or to skip by 5,10 mins.
It does have ff up to 32x but still I'd prefer if I had an option to skip straight to 30th minute of the movie for example rather then wait for fast forward to get there.
When you are listing a folder on pc you can only go one by one when going down the list. That's a small issue since it will auto scroll when you hold up/down arrow pressed but I always pay attention to details which could improve efficiency so I though it would be nice if left/right arrow could serve to jump by 5 or 10 files in the folder. Since nowadays I am sure there is more and more people that have big movie collections so it is not unexpected to have a folder with something like 100 movies or more. So it would save few seconds of your time if you could jump from 1st to 50th file in the list with few pushes of the button rather then wait for auto scroll to get there.
I imagine last two issues I mentioned could be adjusted with firmware upgrade.
Bottom line, considering the price is around 90eur I'd consider it a great buy.
