Recently bought a used technomate motorised system and noticed some play in the motor. When mounted the tail can be pushed away from the mounting pole about 5mm. rotary movement is ok. Left to right is ok too. Just wondering if this is normal?

There can be slight movement but if its a lot then wind can be a major factor but it just might need a tighten with an Allen Key HEXAGON KEY SET
if the Ball Bearings are not in bad shape then you should be okay you will know it once you have a dish on it and start driving the motor if it do'nt squeal then your likely okay
and if dish is not too heavy more than 88cm then motor should preform perfectly i have 3x TM2600 motors on 3 different Triax dishes 78cm and 88cm dishes and all work very well .
Good luck : ))

This is also a TM2600 with a 1M oval dish. The gears sound fine and the weight of the dish seems to hold the tail down. Just checked the allen bolt and it did need a just a little pinch. Thanks!

Mine did the same and after tightening the allen bolt cured it. Unfortunately due to very strong wind the problem came back!

Pretty certain it was an early Moteck simple design feature to take strong winds as the dish would push up under strong winds & the weight of the dish then just pulled it back down, adds a bit more to setting the el on them .. you do want it tight- no sideways play,

z1 sky dishes move up & down to take winds up to Raven's quoted 220km/h survival.
