Multiplay, OTT boost Cyfrowy Polsat

Poland’s Cyfrowy Polsat had 4.8 million contracted subscribers to its pay-TV services as of the end of Q1.
Although this was up from 4.6 million a year earlier, it was barely changed on the figure at the end of 2016.
However, the company noted a strong growth in contracted services – internet, pay-TV and mobile telephony – as a whole, with the number increasing by 5% over the year to 13.34 million.
Cyfrowy Polsat notes that the pay-TV RGU increase, which amounted to 226,000 over the year, was down to the effect of multiroom and paid OTT.
It also says that its multiplay strategy is proving to be effective, with the number of multiplay customers increasing by 22% to 1.325 million in the year to March 31.
Churn in multiplay also fell over the period, from 9.8% to 8.5%.
Cyfrowy Polsat’s revenues in Q1 were, at PLN2,284 million (€540.7 million), 5% up on a year earlier, while EBITDA was 7% higher at PLN865 million.
