How many channels can be recorded simultaneously?

As it is unlikely we are going to have a receiver with mpeg 4:2:2 capability anytime soon, I am thinking of getting a pc card system.

Several cards have four or even eight tuners. Can anyone tell me if it possible to record three or four or more encrypted mpeg 4:2:2 feeds to hard disc simultaneously? Has anyone tried to do this?


Second question: if this is possible, what spec computer would I need to get?

Well, with a bit of luck I will be able to answer this question myself in the few days and I will post my findings here.

From early observations it seems a quad core machine can record two mpeg 4:2:2 channels simultaneously, but further tests are necessary.
