I'm trying to install oscam. The guide says to move oscam to /usr/bin, but the existing oscam is called oscam_Dmod... also when running oscam_Dmod from the command line shows:-

Version: oscam-1.20-unstable_emu-r9450
ConfigDir: /etc/tuxbox/config/oscam_Dmod

but there is no such directory as /etc/tuxbox/config so I wonder if oscam is actually configured properly.

It was installed normally via the GUI.

oscam_Dmod

rename it to oscam_Dmod01

then send new oscam to same place
ans rename it

oscam_Dmod

chmod 755 ie properties 0755

now see if it works

if not
you will still have your old one

just undo what you done

I Have deleted Oscam (and CCcam) with the idea of starting from scratch....

Now, (on OpenATV) I enter

MENU -> Main Menu > Plugins -> Green Button (Download plugins) -> softcams

The following oscams are offered:-

oscam-atv
oscam-atv-emu
oscam-atv-ymod
oscam-depponmod
oscam-ymod-openatv

How do I know which to pick?

Eventually, I want to be able to use the one recommende earlier, but want to make sure that it will be compatible with the one I install through the normal procedure.

in ETC have you got a file like this

oscam_atv_emu.emu

emuname = oscam_atv_emu 1.2 11353
binname = oscam_atv_emu
startcam = /usr/bin/oscam_atv_emu -b -r 2 -c /usr/keys/oscam_atv_emu
stopcam = killall -9 oscam_atv_emu

thats where all should be in ATV

your choice of cam is upto you
as its up to you to ask a question then get an answer and choose something different
from what the 1st question was

so its your choice
