Use the link to download the latest firmware todate 8th Aug 2010 get a usb pen drive format it fat32 loaded the HDS2_DUMP.abs onto it. place in the box at the back via the usb port.go into the menu and update the firmware via usb. this will give you the latest firmware and a good freind Breed has dun us all a favour and sorted the channels into favourites and removed the tiresome channels that can cause us a bit of problem. if you use your own channels some sky sports channels cause a reboot loop. the quickest way to fix is pull the sat wire out reboot change channel then remove it from your fav's. pick another sky sports channels as there are normally doubles of every sky sports channels.

This receiver is not Linux.

It is a clone from China.

The original Label is from Ukraine .

This is their current receiver range:
Openbox-receivers

There are three models with Linux (S5,S7,S8) but they have an Sti7101 processor and they come from Korea (Fortis OEM).

L53 Openbox S9 [03 October 10] v1.40

The channel list contains 30 satellites, this is by no means a finished list, as there is still a bit of editing to do.
To install this channel list simply transfer the unzipped channel list to a USB Stick
and insert the USB Stick into the USB port on the rear of the receiver, then enter the Menu, as described below.
Menu -> Tools -> Upgrade By USB and in Upgrade Mode select Image File[*.abs]
then select Upgrade File and use the < > arrow keys to scroll through
the files and select the L53_S9 channel list, and then click Start.
Once the file have been installed, you can then click the Zoom button to directly select and goto any satellite from within the list.

OpenBox S9 Modified Dump.file [04 November 2010]

This is a modified Dump file and was released on [04 November 2010]
This dump file is based on the the latest firmware release [HDS2-10-10-20:0747CMT]

Included is a multi-satellite channel list.
The channel list default setting is DisEqC 1.2.
Coverage of the channel list is: 45east to 30west.

=======================
What's New:
Added replace.list [German HD Channels okay on Astra]
Updated channel list: New settings added for 28.2 east Sky Premiere, Sky Thriller etc, and also included are a number of Asian Channels such as Zee, Sony, B4U etc ...
=======================

If this is the first time you have uploaded a Dump.file, then you will need to read the following instructions:-
1 Click Menu -> System Setup -> TV System -> Video Resolution this will return to the default setting of [1080i 60] after each upload, if your TV has a refresh rate of 50Mhz then set the video resolution to [1080i 50] and the picture will become clear now press exit
Now select Local Time Settings and set it as follows if your in the UK:
1 GMT Usage ... ON
2 GMT Offset .. UTC+00:00
3 Summer Time . OFF
now click exit and exit again
Now select Network Local Setting and if your router supports DHCP then set it to On
otherwise you will need to configure the settings manually, once you have set it up click Apply then exit
Finally click CCcam Plug Setting, if you already have an active cccam.cfg file transfer it to a USB Stick insert the stick into the USB connection on the rear of the receiver and click Update Files By USB then select Option 1 in the popup box and click the OK button then click the Yellow button and your cccam.cfg files will be transfered
Now you need to activate the files, click CCcam Plug Setting then Manage Config Files click Option 1 and select each file in turn and click the OK button when you have a tick next to the files you wish to activate then exit.
To finish the activation and configuration process you must now reboot your receiver, then once it has restarted all should be okay.

The channel list included in the HDS2_DUMP file includes the latest L53 multi-satellite channel list, this is by no means a finished list, and is still an ongoing project.

Anyone may use, or share this modified Dump file, all I ask is that you do not remove, or edit the files included in any way, or add any other extra files.
Of course we are aware that some have the tendancy to remove the text files, I have no idea why, we are also aware of the fact, that our downloads and help files are being placed on other sites, and then claimed as their own work, which is quite sad, as they obviously have no idea how or what to do themselves, still if it makes them happy, who are we to stand in the way of their ignorance ...

All the best
Laurals.

Please Note:
I overlooked saving the following channels on 28.2east
1 .. ITV3 HD
2 .. ITV4 HD
simply scan the following settings and save them
11.758

New Official Firmware & Modified Dump File [HDS2-10-11-08:1100CMT]

New Official Firmware Released [HDS2-10-11-08:1100CMT]

What's New:
1 .. Sat List contains a number of additional satellites.
2 .. CA Slot Settings additional feature included 'Edit Smartcard Config' which seems to be for Irdeto based cards.
3 .. When entering Hex values in Key sections, the symbols are no longer recognised.
An example of this would be:
Enter 1 and only 1 is displayed, Enter 2 and you still get the option of a b c 2, as the letters a-f are included in Hex values.
The following numbers 0 1 4 5 6 7 8 9 will enter directly, making it much easier, and quicker to directly enter any Hex keys.

And entering BISS Keys will still achieve nothing, which is a shame.

I have also noticed, that the modified date of this official release is, '‎01 ‎January ‎2008, ‏‎01:28:58' which seems rather odd ?.

OpenBox S9 Modified Dump.file with Channel List [13 November 2010]

This is a modified Dump file, and was released on [13 November 2010]
This dump file is based on the the latest official firmware release
[HDS2-10-11-08:11007CMT]

Included in the Dump file is a multi-satellite channel list.
The channel list default setting is DisEqC 1.2.
Coverage of the channel list is: 45east to 30west.
Included in the zip file is a replace.list [German HD Channels okay on Astra]
The channel list can also be used on a fixed dish setup, simply click the Zoom button, and select any satellite from the data base that you wish to access.

================================================== =================================
What's New:
Updated channel list:
All satellites updated.
Dish positioning problem corrected.
Many new channels added.
A number of channels updated with new settings.
I believe all the channels that cause rebooting problems, have now been removed.
To optimize this list & receiver to it's full potential, you will require a multi-sat coverage cline.

================================================== =================================

================================================== =================================
How to add the replace.list file.

Click Menu -> Network Local Settings -> MGCamd Plug Settings -> Update Files by USB
-> replace.list [MGCamd Plug] now click either the OK or Green button to select replace.list and place a check mark next to it, once the check mark or tick is visable click the Yellow button to upload.

You can then if you wish, check to see if the replace list has been correctly added, by clicking Manage Config Files and clicking on relace.list if all went well, you will see the following line X: {{ 1833 } { 1702 }}
