An update on TP's from 5W that are working for me.

Im getting all empb's TP's except 4159 L (H) 1792 "ORTB-BB-24" (ORTB Bénin Business 24) not sure why that one does not work here.

plus :

3630 R Feeds in French regular channel 24/7
4030 R AFNEX
3657 R KTN Kenya
4137 L SLBC
4162 L Africa N1

have seen 3721L Viasat on blind scan appear in my list but not good enough for lock.

Some of the lower SR channels sometimes take a while to lock. 3 or 4 seconds

Just quick update, dish moved away from trees, looks like I have a few more TP's available than EMPB on 5W, also can get one TP on 1W, 3985 R, BBC Africa radio feed. No luck with Fox News as yet 3722 R.

Early days still working on the feed horn distance and ground mount.

You won't have any luck with Fox News unless you are using a PC DVB Card as it is non standard Satellite DVB Format/Modulation/Codex (DVB-S2/32APSK MPEG-4 Stream 0 ACM and not DVB-S or DVB-S2/QPSK or 8PSK).

Nice to see your getting more with a slightly bigger dish, your 1.5m compared with my 1.1m equivalent (Triax TD110, 1.06m) and being ever so slightly nearer the footprint :)

I am still going to have a go at 0.8W see if I can get:

also can get one TP on 1W, 3985 R, BBC Africa radio feed.

and need to have another look at DVB-S on 46E 4145 H DVB-S/MPEG-2 6666 2/3, 49E 3590 L, 3743 L & 53E 3708 L 4280, lost 5E RAVE_TV since it changed to 3644 L 1300 though.

OK yes, thanks for that. No PC setup at the moment, just my Technomate :)

My 1.5 is very less than perfect, the feed needs to go bit further back, modification needed to the support which may do this week. Its an old IRTE solid dish, possibility of bolting petals to it if could find or make them, came with fixing holes on the rim.

Have tried others beyond 40E but no luck for me as yet...

The BBC Africa feed is still there checked just now....

Was going to have a play with the mount today but its pi**ing down out there typical bank holiday

Interesting surprised you are getting nothing from 26E reasonably OK signal here, more than 1W BBC and 27W VOA

One more to add :

Eutelsat 3B @ 3.1E
3668 R Clouds TV

Only one in this spot blind scan.

Was looking at the 2.4m fortecstar petal dish can be picked up very low price although gets mixed reviews to say the least. have seen under UKP 200. Maybe to use the petals somehow to extend or replace the reflector on my IRTE 1.5m

Thinking as its really designed for C band use good enough perhaps ?

S L B C TV just rebroadcast RTI1 Cote d'Ivoire for the Sierra Leone - Ivory Coast match!

And 26E Ku-Band RTI1 was clearly a better picture than SLBC TV's 5W C-Band rebroadcast.

Yes looks OK for me. good signal strength and lock here...

Re: 5W 3727 R DVB-S 29950-7/8, It's def still DVB-S? ie its not switched to DVB-S2 has it?

****Re: 5W 3727 R DVB-S 29950-7/8, It's def still DVB-S? ie its not switched to DVB-S2 has it?

Well not sure really, not done a rescan for several days on that TP. How can I get my TM-6902 to tell me its S or S2 ?

Have this :

3728, V (R), 29946

Sig 92
Quality 58

Lowest one for me is KTN on 5W little breakup but fine most of the time, its OK right now. US TV talk show "Steve" in English

Sig 87
Quality 48

SLBC

Sig 88
Quality 64

Thought maybe interested to compare.....

Feedsat_DXer answer my problem (on another top forum):

1184955f372834021d.png

But I think ,if your problem has started a week ago, it could be because of ABS3A.
"the opening" angle is wide on small antenna like yours, you may try to fine tune 5°W.

Because there is a same frequency @ 3°W 3727 V 29875
1184955f372834ad80.jpg

FlySat ABS-3A @ 3° West - Acknowledged Ku-Band PAL Carrier Tests

ABS 3A at 3.0°W - LyngSat - Added Satellite Acknowleging it is active in test but no test freq info

KingOfSat - European Satellite Zapping & Directory - Not even added 3W yet!

thx Feedsat_DXer :thum:

But here are my numbers: (5°W Technomate Meters)

ORTB-BB-24 Signal 92% Quality 62%
SCOPUS NET TECH (ORTB) Signal 91% Quality 60%
Tele Sahel Signal 90% Quality 49%
Program 1 (Tele Africa) Signal 90% Quality 50%
S L B C TV Signal 90% Quality 51%
CRTV Signal 91% Quality 50%
RTG1 Signal 90% Quality 49%

As you can see I have quote a few channels just on the edge/threshold of reception!

Thanks (dunno why I can't get it to work as a proper YOUTUBE VID but hey).

Further Info, We will find out if this goes through and C-Band reception is totally destroyed by evil mobile phone companies, they shouldn't need any more bandwith....After WRC-15 [World radiocommunication conference 15] which will be held in Geneva Nov. 2-27.

problem is m8 that the mobile phone companies have large coffers and as usual they just throw money around in backhanders as when it boils down to it its bribery.( 4G in the UK using what were UHF terrestriel frequencies) money is the root of all evil and its only going to get worse imho. do you think they would be allowed to get away with it if it was Ku band instead of C .. no chance as there is too much money in the DTH pay tv market of which 95% is downlinked via Ku.

Yes interesting list thanks for posting it.

Now have ORTB-BB-24, sig 88%, Quality 65%. Not sure why it was not working before.

My benchmark KTN ...

4=3657,V,2916,35,134,|-54 dBm, 3.7 dB

Very marginal last few days, breakup worse now than couple of weeks ago, not really watchable.

Interesting is this one

Reversible Malakoff (French Feeds)

1=3630,V,3254,12,1,|-55 dBm, -10 dB

Come in rock solid here.
