Blind scan receivers & 4:2:2 receivers
Vantage X200S series
The blind scan is very good especially the 1,2,3,4 & 5 MHz scanning steps, The tuner is not as sensitive as the TM5200usb,& Plaza XT-F,
about the same sensitivity as the TM1500CI+Super which goes to prove Technomates point about the blind scanning comes secondary with a
very sensitive receiver/tuner,
This is my current rating of blind scan receiver's,
1/ Manhattan Plaza XT series,
2/ Vantage X200S series,
3/ Technomate TM1000 Super series,
4/ Technomate TM5000usb series
5/ Manhattan ST series,
6/ Echolink EL777 {Yes it does blind scan}
7/ FortecStar Lifetime Ultra,
4:2:2 Receiver's
The Quali-TV did so by accident - not by design mine does the job very well & until a 4:2:2 HD receiver comes along this will have to do,
Consumer STBs are not designed to cope with 4:2:2 thus you need a pro receiver to do so (or use a PC tuner card).SkyStar-2 card,
Lots of pro models exist (Tandberg, Alteia, Scopus etc.) but they are well out of the consumer STB price range and most have a bewildering
number of options so some technical experience is needed to select the right or appropriate ones.
They're normally designed for 19-inch rack mounting.
Also they are not user friendly - the menus are intentionally involved or technical. Most will not store channels either.
TheTandberg requires the symbol rate to be entered as a full 7 digits and the remote control stops functioning after 3 minutes until it is
password-unlocked; that is deliberate to stop someone changing parameters on a live feed (in the studio, OB truck or whatever).
