Hello Everyone.

I’m looking for a new receiver for the Main bedroom / Kitchen area (not decided where it will go yet) & I would appreciate people’s advice on a suitable model.

I have drawn up a list of desirable features which I would like.

I’m open to both Linux & Non Linux models with open or closed software.

Two S2 tuners + Terrestrial tuner.
The receiver will be used on one fixed dish & Irish terrestrial.

The features I require are.

HD.

IPTV.

You Tube.

Ethernet connection (wireless not required but no harm if the receiver contains it)

HDMI & Scart connections.

External eSata drive connection (Internal not required but again no harm if the receiver contains same.

More than one USB connection.

Optical or digital audio output.

Blind scan (hardware blind scan preferable)

7 day EPG.

Updates by USB as I’m not really into Ftp.

Card reader / CI slot not important.

As I said I don’t mind if the software is open source or closed as I have no problem in patching the receiver. The main thing is that the receiver must be easy to use as my partner will be using it more than I. She is very tech savvy but I don’t want to have to constantly fiddle with the receiver just so she can watch television or a recorded video.

I’m not a complete satellite novice but I’m sure there are desirable features that I have forgotten to mention & many receivers that I know very little about.

I have three receivers already in the house, TM7102 HD. TM F3/5 & a Gigablue Quad Plus. I generally mess around with these myself on my CM 1.2Mt motorised dish so if anything goes wrong I can usually sort it or seek advice but I’m not always around if something goes wrong with this new receiver so I want it to be as plug & play as possible.

Don’t be surprised if you see this post on several forums as I want as much input as possible.

Thanks everyone.

Thank you pipedream.
In my opening post I stated "Don’t be surprised if you see this post on several forums as I want as much input as possible"
I have received suggestions on other forums which I will consider.
I would be surprised if the exact same people were on every forum hence the reason I posted the same query on several forums.

The trick on this forum is to not ask for any help otherwise you will get flamed for breaking the rules

I have been on a lot of other forums but never found anything quite so banal before. Seems a funny old way to operate but there ya go.

I don't think anyone will lose any sleep over it :)
