Default Dish size Guide for UK Feb 17th by William-1

This guide is based on using a Inverto Black Ultra 0.2 dB Lnb with all dish sizes, (Feb 17 2014)

Intelsat-7 & 10 ---------------------68.5 east 100cm
Intelsat-902 -------------------------62 east 80cm
NSS-12 -------------------------------57 east 80cm
Satellites received here in Essex ******************** 53 east to 45 west <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Express AM-22 --------------------53 east --------------80cm to 120cm
AzerSat-1 --------------------------46 east-------------- 80cm (West beam)
AzerSat-1 --------------------------46 east ( No reception on East beam with 100cm)
Intelsat-12 -------------------------45 east------------- 70 cm
Turksat 2A & 3A east -------------42 east -------------80cm for West Beam reception
Turksat 2A & 3A east -------------42 east -------------"East Beam" the UK is too far outside the intended service area no reliable reception in the UK on the East Beam,
Hellas-Sat-2 -------------------------39east------------- 60cm to 80cm,
Eutelsat -36B------------------------36east -----100cm reception only for European beam---
(Reception difficult in the UK from Eutelsat 36A & 36B beams to Russia & South Africa,180cm on some African beams reported,)
Eutelsat 33A ---------------------------33.2 east --------100cm
Astra-1G -------------------------------31.5 east -----Limited reception in the UK (Reception may improve in the UK when Astra 5B launches in December this year,
Arabsat 5A ------------------------------30.5 east -------Ku & C band reception possible with 150 to 240cm in the UK
Astra---2A - 2E - 2F - Eutelsat 28A ---28.2 / 28.5-----45cm to 60cm.
Astra 2E-2F-2G -----------------28.2----45cm to 60cm---new tighter beams for UK new Astra satellites for FreeSat now make reception very difficult in Southern Europe even with 300cm dish size (Cyprus, Greece,Turkey,Southern Spain.) 2G launches in the Summer 2014 relaces Astra 2A & Eutelsat 28A.
Badr- 4 ----------------------------------26---100cm to 120cm = South UK ----- 120 to 180cm = North UK
Badr-5 & 6 @ 26 east {There is no reception on Badr-5 & 6 in the UK with the new tight beam (180cm reception has been reported on the Isle of Wight)
Eutelsat 25B / Es'hail-1 -----------------------------25.5 east } No reception with 100cm dish in the UK atm
Astra--3B-----------------------------23.5 ---80 to 90cm --------------------------120 cm further West & North an even bigger dish required {some spot beams cannot be received in the UK}
Eutelsat-21B-----------------------21.6 ----90 to 120 cm
Arabsat-5C-------------------------20 east 120cm for C band in Southern England
Astra-1-KR - 1L - 1M -1N- 2C-----19.2 ------45cm South UK---------------------60cm North UK.
Eutelsat 16A-----------------------16 east ----60cm Central Europe inc UK
Hot Bird 13B - 13C - 13D - -------13 east---------45cm to 60cm.
Eutelsat- 10A ---------------------10 east------90 to 120cm {some transmissions can be received on a 80cm dish}

Thor-5 & 6 -------------------------0.8 west --80 cm European beam
Thor-5 & 6 -------------------------0.8 west ---100 cm for Nordic beam in South East England
Intelsat-10-02 --------------------1 west ---80cm
Amos-2 & 3------------------------4 west ---100cm no reliable service in UK as we are not inside the intended service area,
Eutelsat 5 West A ----------------5 west ----80cm.
Nilesat-102 -----------------------7 west-----100 to 150cm for some vertical transponder's for Horizontal Tp's 240cm + but no reliable reception possible in the UK as we are well outside the service area for this satellite,best reception is on the South coast of the UK,
Nilesat 201 -------------------------7 west ----------------{ No reception in UK with 100cm dish}
Eutelsat 7 West A-----------------7.3 west---------------100cm South East England
Eutelsat 8 West C -----------------7.8 west------------ (No reception in UK with 100cm dish)
Eutelsat 8 West A------------------8 west---------------80cm.
Express AM44-----------------------11 west------------90cm
Eutelsat 12 West A ---------------12.5 west ------------80cm
Telstar-12 ---------------------------15 west ------------90cm
Intelsat-901 -------------------------18 west ------------90cm
NSS-7 --------------------------------20 west -------------90cm
SES-4 ---------------------------------22 west -------------90cm
Intelsat-905 --------------------------24.5 west----------80cm

Well my 90cm a good setup then 54% on 12264 and 12475 and slight breakup on 12245 at 44% with duo but I did try my old tm6900 hd and 62% and 52% I also found 12626v 2221 today on 87%

By the way 12622 V 2221 is on 8 west Marqueur (Test card)

well checked over last few days and best I get 45% but normally 40 and no lock. But I think my switch might be losing a few dbs. Happy with my setup again now and thanks for you time.

Oh yes Marqueur was found blindscan on tm6900 at 7.3w

Hello and great info

Can anybody guide me on dish sizes for the following in the area of Blyth - Northumberland as I would really like to be able to receive all of the Danish, Swedish, Norwegian Channels as we have just moved to the area and my wife really misses them, and I am interested in sports on the others.....

In case of antenna, bigger is always better. But when it starts to be really big it is also getting much more expensive. Install 1,8m motorized and you will get almost all available signals and your Mrs will be certainly happy.

Hi

I am on a Triax HD110 (Off set) and the listed satellites come in no problem in South East England . With you being further north you should be fine with this size .
A 1.8.m is a large size dish ground mounted base but if you have the space and you will need planning approval . A larger motor/mount to drive it also a larger base mounting (Large concrete base) every thing increases wind loading and there is the price.
