Details Behind Brian Kendrick's WWE Release: Drug Use?

It's being reported that Brian Kendrick's WWE release was actually something that had been planned a few weeks in advance, which is why he had been so negatively booked on Raw. In his last couple weeks on TV, Kendrick was booked to lose to both Jerry Lawler and Kofi Kingston in what were basically squash matches meant to humiliate him, and that was the way WWE wanted him booked prior to his release.

It's being said that Kendrick failed numerous marijuana tests and WWE management was getting tired of his repeated failures. Although a marijuana test failure only constitutes a $1,000 fine as opposed to a suspension, WWE is cracking down on the wrestlers who abuse the drug too often and repeatedly fail tests.

Kendrick's release is not only punishment to him for failing marijuana tests, but it is also being used to serve as a warning to talent higher on the card who feel they can get away with abusing marijuana and simply pay the fine when they fail a test.

WWE On ESPN's Baseball Tonight, More WWE/SportsCenter

Cody Dalton sent along the following: Just thought I'd pass along a funny note. ESPN Anchor Robert Flores made several wrestling references during last night's/this morning's SportsCenter. He referred to Houston's Jeff Michaels as the "Heartbreak Kid". He also referred to a soccer goal being scored in their Top 10 Plays as a "Batista Bomb".

Justin Robinson sent along the following: On last night's edition of Baseball Tonight, John Kruk was discussing the Prince Fielder situation and barging the locker door. John Kruk stated that the last thing you need is the MLB turning into the WWE. Kruk then said "It's like you're waiting for Triple H and John Cena to barge through the locker door and start a fake fight."

After Saying No, SU Carrier Dome Finally Accepts WWE Show

WWE pro wrestling coming to Syracuse University's Carrier Dome in December

Syracuse, NY -- After saying no to professional wrestling for several years, Syracuse University officials have had a change of heart.

The university has booked a World Wrestling Entertainment Raw show at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 30 at the Carrier Dome. The show -- expected to draw 20,000 people -- will be the first professional wrestling event at the Dome, said its director, Pat Campbell.

"We're actively trying to pursue some different types of events, and this has been out there for years," Campbell said.

About a decade ago, Vince McMahon, head of the World Wrestling Federation (formerly the WWE), slammed SU for refusing to allow his wrestlers to perform in the Dome. University officials said then professional wrestling, which often features coarse language, sexual innuendo and staged violence, didn't fit the university's academic image.

"We changed our philosophy somewhat," Campbell said. "It's a no-brainer for us to do this here. There's a good market in Syracuse for it, and there's a lot of interest by the organization to come here."

Ticket prices have not been announced.

"There's something about the Dome that just generates more interest, especially when you're doing something for the first time," Campbell said. "We're really excited about it. We think it's going to be a lot of fun, and quite unique."

WWE Raw is televised Monday nights on the USA Cable Network. WWE SmackDown is televised Friday nights on MyNetworkTV. There are pay-for-view shows for bigger events.

The show in the Carrier Dome will not be televised, Campbell said.

The WWE has promised to bring its major stars to Syracuse, Campbell said, which could include WWE champion Randy Orton, U.S. champion Kofi Kingston and Divas champion Mickie James. A WWE representative said Wednesday it's too early to say which wrestlers are coming to Syracuse.

The WWE SmackDown/ECW SummerSlam tour came to the Turning Stone Resort and Casino on Sunday and played at the 5,000-seat capacity Event Center. Tickets cost $40, $25 and $15.

Campbell said he expects a similar show to the one at Turning Stone, but on a bigger scale.

"There are details still to be worked out," Campbell said, "but we're going to make use of the size of the facility, and the expanse of the facility. I guarantee you it will definitely be a spectacle."

SummerSlam's 7/11 Cups In Canada?; Ezekiel Jackson, More

R.D. sent along the following: For the past week, WWE has been advertising the Summerslam Super Big Gulp cups at 7/11. In Canada however, despite having 7/11 all over the country, we have yet to receive the cups in the stores. I don't know if this is an error by WWE or 7/11 or if the cups aren't going to be sold in Canada, but it seems as though WWE forgot an entire country worth of 7/11 Summerslam cups.

-Today's WWE.com "Superstar of the Day" is Ezekiel Jackson.

-The "Daily Diva" at WWE.com today with a new photograph is Layla.

Very Detailed On-Site Report From RAW At Mohegan Sun

WWE RAWDaniel Pena sent along the following:

I, Daniel Pena, was in attendance at Raw at the Mohegan Sun on Monday, which was a unique experience to say the least. I'm late in getting this report up, but better late than never. Here are some off-air notes from the event, as well as other things that happened during and after the show.

* In the show opening dark match, Jamie Noble defeated developmental wrestler Alex Riley with a rollup. It was pretty much the exact same deal as the week before in Washington D.C. with Riley cutting a promo prior to the match to insult the crowd.

* Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and Lilian Garcia made their respective entrances.

* Only one match for this week's episode of WWE Superstars was taped prior to Raw, which saw Chris Masters defeat Santino Marellawith the Master Lock. It was partially a comedy match as Marella was goofing around and even tried putting Masters in the Master Lock at one point. Masters apparently lost a tooth during the match following an errant blow on the part of Marella.

* A graphic featuring Rey Mysterio vs. Mike Knox was displayed on the TitanTron, but the match would be taped the next night. Can't say I was awfully disappointed.

* As always, Lilian Garcia sang the National Anthem prior to Raw going on the air.

* Unlike past Raw tapings, there wasn't much in the way of extracurricular activities during commercial breaks. At times there would be nothing going on for several minutes. Besides a few Tribute to the Troops/WrestleMania highlight videos, the only thing of was note Josh Mathews coming out encouraging fans to hold up their signs. Also, there was no "Kiss Cam" for the first time in a while.

* After being throw out of the ring by John Cena, Dr. Ken could not get up as he fell down again. The lumberjacks did not catch him too well as he hit his head hard on the floor. Chris Masters would carry him up the ramp.

* After Raw went off the air, John Cena got on the mic to tell Randy Orton that the night was not over. He said there was one more match to come. He then cut a promo on The Miz, basically saying he was so happy for him to be gone from Raw. Cena then got the crowd to sing the "Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye" song to The Miz.

* A lengthy dark match closed out the show, which saw Big Show team up with Randy Orton to take on John Cena and Triple H. Triple H won the match with the pedigree on Orton after Cena played the face in peril the majority of the match. Following the match, Cena went up to the front row and acknowledged his wife and I believe one of his brothers. Triple H went around the ring slapping hands while Lilian thanked fans for attending tonight's show.

Most Cheers
1. John Cena
2. Triple H
3. Mark Henry and Hornswoggle
4. Evan Bourne
5. Kofi Kingston

Most Heat
1. Chris Jericho and Big Show
2. Randy Orton
3. The Miz
4. Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes
5. Jack Swagger

Random observations

What I will remember most from this trip is stuff that didn't have anything to do with the show.

* Just before I made my way onto the arena floor for my seat, a bunch of kids were acting excited over a peephole. I took a look myself and you could see a part of the backstage area. I managed to see Hornswoggle and some backstage workers. A worker them came along to get everyone to go away. You can find the peephole by the entrance to the right side floor of the arena when entering sections 4 and 5.

* An amazingly hot blonde woman with an "I Love Cena" sign was sitting right in front of me the entire show and one of the cameramen had her move up a row to the first row to get on camera. I looked at my DVR recording and she appeared right before the final commercial break while Cena was in the ring waiting for the ring. I actually managed to get in the shot as you can see me crouching down waving like a dork. Oh well, I got on TV.

* Out of alllllll the people in the arena, I sat next to a girl who brought an "It's still real to me damnit!" sign. And she was really cute too — I didn't know attractive girls who are smart to wrestling really existed! I talked to her a bit during the show and I could tell she knows her stuff. From talking to her, she'll probably read this, but I will say it was a pleasure to watch the show with you.

* Just after the show had ended and Lilian was making her way to the back, she excitedly ran up to me by the barricade, said I was so sweet, and gave me a big hug. She knows me and liked my sign earlier in the night, which read "Thank You Lilian." The week before in D.C., I held up the sign that read "Don't leave Lilian," which was confiscated by the headset guy before she even got a chance to see it. I was actually mad at myself for not stopping to think that WWE had not made it publicly known yet that she was leaving soon. I e-mailed her about it and she told me she actually taken a picture with her camera phone during the show of her with the sign, which she showed me. Anyway, at this week's show, I told Lilian "I'll miss you" and actually gave her a kiss while she was hugging me. Although, it seemed like Lilian wanted me to kiss her as she had conveniently positioned herself for me to easily do so, I definitely would not have tried to otherwise. So anyway, I just went for it! And kissed her. I was completely taken aback that she was letting me kiss her as I did not expect that at all. I thought maybe I'd just get a cheerful greeting and that would be it, but wow, she gave me a lot more. While I'm still disappointed my all-time favorite is leaving, I will always have this lasting memory of her. I will never forget this. So as my sign said, "Thank you Lilian."

* After the show, I had a few hours to kill before I could head home, so I hung around the Mohegan Sun. At around a midnight, to the corner of my eye I could see a lady that looked like Rosa Mendes briskly walking through the hotel lobby. As it turns out, it was Rosa Mendes! And she was with Alicia Fox. They went to hide from autograph seekers behind a desk where I believe people check into the hotel. A fan asked Rosa for her autograph, but she said she had to go. It was funny as hell seeing this guy that looked like he came straight out of The Sopranos insulting Rosa and Alicia while they were hiding behind a wall for ignoring the fans. He was also yelling at his 10-year-old son for missing out on getting autographs from them because he didn't have a pen ready.

* A short while later, a huge crowd formed by the stairs as apparently a WWE star was signing autographs. However, I did not see anyone, or maybe thought it was a short Diva. I then asked a guy who it was, and he said Evan Bourne. I then went to a different side and could see him. I could not see him at all before because the people crowding him were taller than him. Anyway, he must have met like 100 people and seemed really happy to be meeting the fans. While I was waiting, I just blurted out to Evan, "Go to tnaaaaaaaaay" to see how he'd react. This got a laugh from the crowd (well, mostly boos), as well as Evan. He said, "Hahaha, yeah right!!" I then got his autograph. I must commend him for how nice he was.

* While Evan was signing autographs, Kofi Kingston came right where he was to head out to the casino. Immediately, most of the crowd bailed on Evan and started chasing Kofi. He went to the casino, although he may have simply drifted off past it as I didn't really follow him.

* Maybe half an hour later, I and a bunch of fans could see Alicia Fox, Rosa Mendes, Jack Swagger, Evan Bourne and Primo through a glass window partying at one of the night clubs. The club was closed off to the public. Alicia Fox was acting really bizarre, it's almost hard to explain. She teased the fans and was making funny faces, most especially to this very young boy by pretending to act like she was his girlfriend. She was whispering stuff to him and even kissed him through the glass window for a relatively long period of time. It was really odd. She may have had a little too much to drink as she continued to act weird. She then did something to Evan Bourne, which is hard for me to describe, before waving goodbye to the fans. They weren't there long, and for a few minutes the same kid was trying to figure how they were going to enter the mall area. It was funny seeing a bunch of people follow him around like a pied piper, and he actually guessed correctly as to what elevator they were going to come out off. After coming out of the elevator, all of the WWE stars immediately headed into the Mohegan Sun Arena alongside a few security guards.

That was pretty much it, although I had heard that Mickie James, The Miz and Hornswoggle were around after the show. It was without a doubt my most unique wrestling-related voyage, which I don't think will ever be topped.

HHH On Jimmy Fallon, Matt Hardy Update, Jeff Hardy

Nick Buzzelli sent along the following: Triple H will be on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday.

Dylan O'Connell sent along the following: I found this interesting. On Matt Hardy’s myspace he posted a new picture that has sepia on it to make it look old, and he is holding the world heavyweight championship here’s the caption: A picture that looks like it's from the past, but it's actually from the future. When I get healthy, it will be MY time.

And here’s a new blog he posted:

Just finished up a highly productive day in New York City, including business and pleasure. Extremely excited about the future. Everyday i get busier and have more responsibility on my shoulders, but it doesn't bother me one bit-it actually motivates me to work harder and be a better person 360 degrees. While on the topic of busy, check out the most recent preview of The Hardy Show and please leave your thoughts and feedback. Subscribe to our YouTube Channel while you're there and watch the latest episode preview, "The 4th Of July." Here's the link everybody.. The 4th Of July-Hardy Show style!

This Tuesday my fantastic Doctor, Dr. Pappas, cleared me to start training again which means one thing.. I'm fully focused on returning to Smackdown and making it the Matt Hardy Show! If you support me and believe in me, great! If you doubt me and don't think I have what it takes, thank you! Those two types of motivation will drive a healthy Matt Hardy to become the best that Smackdown has to offer. Please doubt me if you dare.. To begin with, I'm gonna get in the shape of my life, I'm gonna take over Smackdown, and then I'm gonna take over the entertainment world. Mark. My. Words. Don't miss Smackdown this week, I'll be watching VERY close. I have one thing primarily on my mind now. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here you go..

In the next few days, i'm gonna post a detailed blog revisiting my long standing injury. You will not belive it..I guarantee you that. But it's all true, much like it's only a matter of time before a become The World Heavyweight Champion.

BIG things are in the works.

Piper On Bret Hart/Flair Beef, Rise & Fall Of WCW DVD, More

Justncredible818 sent along the following:

Brace yourselves Mayhem Nation, as it was indeed time for history in the making: the first-ever appearance of "The Rowdy One," "Rowdy" Roddy Piper on "Your Home Of Wrestling Radio." Roddy wished to thank Monday Night Mayhem for their hospitality & facilitating a way to let his legions of fans in North America know of his next venture, appearing & signing autographs at this weekend's Chicago "Wizard World" convention (courtesy of Turnbuckle Promotions & Jason Blaustein), along with the rest of his family: his son (Colt) & his daughters (Ariel/Falon) -- along with his family where he will be making an appearance & signing autographs, which may very well be the first time Piper's fans & his family will be together ever. Piper is indeed looking forward to a return to "The Windy City" for himself, his children, & his passionate fans: "I'm not sure for the Toombs clan." He added, "You may see a different Roddy Piper there. I have always kept my family & my business apart. In going to Chicago, I'm so protective of them. I don't know exactly how its gonna' play out."

Recently, there had been some reports circulating that a possible return to World Wrestling Entertainment was imminent for Piper, and with "The Biggest Party Of The Summer" (SummerSlam) almost two weeks away & with WWE using "Guest Hosts" on RAW on a regular basis, that question was asked to him by The Mayhem Crew: Will be be seeing a future/full-time run back in the WWE for "Rowdy" Roddy Piper? "I wasn't wild about WrestleMania XXV to put it mildly. There's not a chance in hell that that's the last way you're gonna' see me. There will definitely be a return of Roddy Piper...and sooner than later. How many more fights I have in me, I don't know." He went on to talk about a match that he knows would draw money. "You got Vince McMahon who's done a great job of promoting, who became a bodybuilder, and the last I saw him, I think he's convinced himself he could fight now. I say this...why don't you just put Roddy Piper & Vince McMahon in the ring. Put a million dollars in a Halliburton in the corner & Cobra Shelby to drive away. And the guy that can walk away and take that Halliburton & that Cobra Shelby is the winner. The other guy don't get nothing."

In recent weeks, Piper's long-time friends/colleagues/fellow WWE Hall Of Famers, Bret "Hitman" Hart & "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, have been involved in a "war of words" about each other, their respective legacies in the business, as well as their drawing power. Piper is close friends with both superstars, and he was about the situation by MNM's "Chairman Of The Board" Todd Vincent for his candid takes. "Obviously I have an allegiance to both those fellas...Ric Flair & I have been together some. So as Bret Hart & I. I find that I have many, many things inside me that have gone wrong that I've harbored & been angry about in the business for somebody, against somebody else or a promoter or a situation. I think if I was doing an intervention I would have to say that both Ric Flair & Bret Hart were two of the greatest wrestlers in our business, they both had their unique styles, they both have made a lot of money. Whatever the original difference of opinion was, you know what, let it go... Life's too short. Stop it."

In just mere days, World Wrestling Entertainment will be releasing "The Rise And Fall Of WCW" DVD, which is eagerly being sought after as one of the most-anticipated DVD release in recent history for wrestling fans, both past & present. Piper was in World Championship Wrestling during the heyday of "The Monday Night Wars," and he was asked by Mosh & Blade for his feelings about the promotion (looking back on his time there) & whether, to this day, the company has received a bad rap overall, with not enough positive memories about it & most people focusing on the negative end of what went down. "First of all, an interesting piece of math: When WCW was going out of business, they were getting a 2.2 share, and the WWE was getting a 3.5. The last Monday, and it collapses. Come the next Monday, you go look at the WWE ratings, their ratings went up to a 3.7. And then the next week, came back to settle at a 3.5. The point of the matter is you got 2.2 out there that didn't want WWE...not even when WCW was gone. They just went away. So WCW had a fan- following of its own. There's a population out there that loved WCW, and when it went away, they went away with it according to the numbers." And whether he will be watching the DVD and if some of the good of WCW will be shown: "I think it would be a shame if it didn't. You can't take a look at WCW & tear it apart. If you're doing that & just tearing it apart, I don't it escalates the WWE at all. I will be taking a look at it, and I would hope, if the WWE has the class to portray it exactly how it happened, then good for you WWE. You need to be able give someone a pat on the back."

Piper went on to add his thoughts on the way World Championship Wrestling was run during that time. "Crime....They were something like 80 million in the good one year & next year 60 million in the bad...whatever it was. What happened there was the tail started wagging the dog. They were doing things like booking by committee. You can't book by committee. There's gotta' be a chief, and the chief has to know what he's doing."

Blade asked Roddy about the young crop of current superstars/wrestlers that are performing today & who he follows closely in both the WWE & TNA. "I think Jeff Hardy is outstanding, not only as a man but as a athlete. Randy Orton, he'll be talking to you like this someday. People that excite me...I'll tell ya, Jeff Hardy is hard to beat. Cena...I think Cena's too company. I don't mean he is personally, I think they whitewashed him too much. I think if they let Cena go a bit, he would do even better than he's doing."

As many long-time fans of Piper are very well aware of, Roddy is a proud member of the "Class Of 2004" in the WWE Hall Of Fame. Fans have suggested over the years, including many loyal members of The Mayhem Nation, that the current inductees into the WWE HOF should have a vote in future classes, as to who gets selected. Piper was asked if he had three votes, who would he choose to go in & join him in the WWE Hall Of Fame. "I think Bruno Samartino should be in the Hall Of Fame. Whatever you think about him, the guy sold-out Madison Square Garden so many times. Trying to pick three in really tough for me." He mentioned that "it's a crime that Ted DiBase ('The Million Dollar Man') is not in the Hall Of Fame." He added, "You can't make that Hall Of Fame a piece of commercial. Something's gotta' be pure. Howard Finkel: I love him to death, but he's not a wrestler. What's he doing in the Hall Of Fame? I'm not knocking Howard, I'm just saying some things have nothing to do with business. It's about your honor, your grace, & your class. And that's what this Hall Of Fame should stay as." He mentioned that maybe not having the Hall Of Fame one year would keep it pure & mean more.

More is contained in this exclusive 90+ minute interview with the legendary "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, including his uncensored comments on TNA establishing themselves as something different to the WWE, why him & Mr. T are still at odds, what he feels are/have been the differences between SummerSlam & WrestleMania as an event, why he strongly believes that Ted Turner was good for the wrestling business, the impressions ECW gave him during their "Glory Days," how important Pat Patterson was to the WWE's success, & his thoughts about unions in wrestling (and if there's any chance whatsoever of one still forming, & so much more. Indeed the very best interview in the near eight-year history of "Your Home Of Wrestling Radio." This is one interview that The Mayhem Nation will be talking about for weeks, months, & years to come! The Monday Night Mayhem Radio Network turning into "Piper's Pit."

Once again, be sure to check out "The Rowdy One" at the forthcoming "Wizard World" convention (this Friday through Sunday) in Chicago, IL (appearing courtesy of Turnbuckle Promotions), where he will be making an appearance & signing autographs, along with his son (Colt) & his daughters (Ariel/Falon). For more information on the weekend's festivities & which other celebrities/superstars will be joining "The Hot Rod," log onto www.WizardWorld.com & www.TurnbucklePromotions.com.

JR: Too Many Trailers During Wrestling, Lesnar/WWE Update

Jim Ross has updated his blog over at JRsBarBQ. Below are some highlights:

"Wow, I feel that I am much more knowledgeable of what movies are playing and why I should go see them after watching an abundance of wrestling this week. I have no major issues with movie promotion or any other paying promotion on a wrestling show but the ad agencies should at least have the common sense to change the commercials from time to time. After about he third or fourth time one sees the ad it ceases to sell tickets. I started tapping on Tuesday."

"This just in.....I got word Friday morning that I WILL be in Calgary Monday night to tape a WWE Superstars bout, which will likely be done after Monday Night Raw due to the early start time. I think my two fondest memories of traveling to Calgary was flying there once to do a series of vignettes with Bret Hart prior to his Ironman Match with Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania on a trip where Stu Hart had me in the dungeon 'depriving blood from your brain.' Plus, being in Calgary for the Calgary Stampede was really a great experience."

"Yes, the story that I blogged recently about the WWE NOT offering Brock Lesnar something like $40M for a seven year deal is accurate. Those numbers are not even close. Lesnar was likely offered a $1M guarantee with the opportunity to earn much more. There's a legit chance that Lesnar could have earned close to that much over a 7 year period as he made it north of the $1M mark faster than any one, I think, in WWE history."

Big Update on The Miz: Could He Be Heading to ECW?

IGN.com conducted an interview with recently banned from Raw star The Miz. On the topic of his future WWE plans, The Miz had the following to say: "Who knows what's going to happen? I don't even know! They don't even tell me. I literally went, 'Banned from Raw? And Summerslam? And the Staples Center!?' I can't even go see a Lakers game right now. We still have Syfy's ECW! And we have live events. They never kicked me off Raw live events, so I can still do those as well."

New TNA Knockout Debuting Soon, JR Promises a SSlam Surprise

TNA's Jeremy Borash recently noted on his Twitter account that Japanese star Ayako Hamada will be debuting with the company following their Hard Justice PPV. Borash wrote, "Expect the Knockouts Division to get more physical with the arrival of "Hamada" from Japan. She will be starting after the Hard Justice PPV. Watched a DVD of her matches against Kong in Japan. They were so physically brutal, I needed to be stretchered out of my own living room."

In a blog over at WWE.com, Jim Ross has promised some sort of surprise from him at SummerSlam this year. JR wrote, "Summerslam is so big this year that I'm heading to L.A. on Friday just so I don't miss any thing. Lots of really cool fan activities are being planned from what I hear. Plus, I will have a MAJOR surprise for some folks at Summerslam. Gosh, I love surprises."

TNA News: Knockouts Concerned With Releases, New Webmatch

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that since Dutch Mantel and Savio Vega have been released from TNA, there is growing concern within the Knockout's Division that their place on TV might be in jeopardy. Vega and Mantel were the primary agents involved in booking and planning Knockout's matches, so a lot of the women feel that with those two gone from the company, they might be overlooked when it comes to booking Impact. It should be noted, however, that the Knockout's continue to draw very well for Impact, and as long as they continue to do so, there shouldn't be much worry in the locker room.
