TM5402HD M3 wins the Blind Scan Speed Test Easily

Blind Scan Speed Test :-
Test = Eutelsat 10A @ 10 east scanning 10.950 to 11.200

1st is the TM5402HD M3 in 8 MHz steps = 1 min 5 sec
TM5402HD M3 in 4 MHz steps = 1 min 55 sec

2nd = TM5402HD M1 in 8 MHz steps = 3 min 25 sec

3rd = TM5302HD in 8 MHz steps = 3 min 59 sec

TM5402HD M1 in 4 MHz steps = 5 min 35 sec

AZBox P+ HD in 8 MHz steps = 6 min 5 sec

Due to the faster processor in the TM5402HD M3 (32 bit 550MHz, 8500 DMIPS) wins by a mile
when compared to the slower processor in the TM5402HD M1 (32 bit 450MHz)

TM5302HD with a 32 bit 266MHz even slower processor & the slow Sigma Jungle chip on the AZBox despite the claims this receiver is let down by an underpowered processor,

Conclusion The TM5402HD M3 is in a class of it's own with the much faster processor & the prospect of a 4:2:2 version in the future,

For finding feeds very quickly the TM5402HD M3 is the 1st choice now when it can find feeds with the Blind Scan 4 to 6 x faster than any other satellite receiver I have tested.

8500 DMIPS = (Dhyrstone Million Instructions Per Second).

If you know of another Blind Scan receiver with a faster processor please carry out the same test on 10 east to compare your findings to mine.

A friend just told me that the DrHD D15 achieves the same blind scan speeds as the TM5402HD M3.

Other receivers information gathered:-
DrHD D15 same as TM5402HD M3,
Blade7000s same as TM5402HD M1.
Spiderbox 9000HD same as TM5302HD.

Same speed & blind scan steps as tests in post#1.

These receivers when they came out were very good but due to lack of support for these receivers:-
AZBox Premium+ HD,
DrHD D15,
Blade 7000s
SpiderboxHD9000

These receivers have not reached their full potential with regular software upgrades as the TM5402HD M3 & the Vu+ Uno have,

The Vu+ Uno has been reported elsewhere to have as fast a Blind Scan as the M3 something I will have to look into soon.

TM6900HD Combo Super+ not as fast as the M3 but more accurate

After testing out some of the newer lightweight TM's & their clones over the last few months I have concluded that Fast is not better if the data is not processed correctly.

Today I was only too pleased to go back to my old faithful TM6900HD Combo Super+

I can understand the appeal of the DrHD D15 with the dB level display ect but what I do not like is the way the data base on a blind scan adds a load of dead transponders after several hours of cleaning up the data base only to see most of what I had removed come back again with the Blind scan on 31.5 east 70% was dead transponders This Blind Scan error occurs on most the satellites that I scanned,

Same with the TM5402HD M3,& TM_F3/5 as they are based on the same old TM3000 software now how old is that?

At least I only had to remove a couple of dead transponders with the TM5402HD M1 with a 45,000 symbol rate that was added by the receiver after a Blind Scan when it got confused with a low symbol rate,

But this old software being used by the Chinese for a so called new receiver beggars belief just because the PVR,YouTube,ect works may suit most people but for Feed Hunting a more accurate data base Blind Scan is essential if the receiver software cannot be corrected as was the case with the M1 & M2 & Blade 7000s with the 45,000 symbol rate error,

Then I am afraid it is not good enough as the current manufactures are not interested in developing new software as it is cheaper to mess around with the old software with it's inherent software errors as with the data base on the DrHD D15 & the TM5402HD M3 & TM_F3/5,

Enthusiasts will have to look elsewhere for a decent receiver like the TM6900HD that is also getting a bit dated,

I read a lot here about the DrHD F15 & wonder if it is as good as my TM6900HD ? or does the F15 add dead transponders to the data base ase well?

If only my AZBox P+ had more advanced software to cope with the current transmission types,
So if nothing else turns up it looks like my only alternative will be the:-
TBS6925 PCI-E DVB-S2 Professional PCTV Tuner Card for Satellite Feed Hunting 16APSK/32APSK/ACM/VCM/MIS may be the only way forward atm.

Very good job William, as always. I have my good old TM6900 and I don't sell it, NEVER! But I believe the best way to perform strong blind scan is a good PC card like TBS5925/6925 with EBSPro (great great software for blind scanning). Thanks.

In Short what we all want ...
4:2:2 Reciever with fast efficient blindscan with accurate sensitive Tuner
IPTV and other streaming addons [ XBMC, NAVI-X etc..] Recording .TS Files in Mpeg 2 & MPEG 4 Format
to make crypt8 for Biss Feeds ,
2GB Flash memory with 5GB of GDDR RAM onboard 4GB NVidia graphics , 2 CI slots And 2 Card slots
USB 3.0 slots x 3

Some of which exists already i know .. but accurate blindscan and 4:2:2 would make it The Ultimate sat box , LOL's
call it a TM Xtreme Ultimate 50000HD Super CI
and it'll fly out the shop doors ..hahahaha !!

cheers william-1

TM5402HD M3 after the problems encountered with low signals ect on patch 119p,

I have decided to go back a bit to an excellent patch by the Phantom 115p issued 22nd April 2014
1-Blind scan improved
2-Picture quality improved / defaulted .
3-Select symbol rate in blind scan.
4-A/Z ip TV
5-Singnal sensitivity improved
6-Weather widget fixed

115p is the best patch for Feed Hunters tuner sensitivity is excellent as is the Blind Scan + DigiTurk & YouTube works ok,:thum:

You do not need the Auto Biss update on the M3 as you have over 100 Biss slots you can do your own update,

Picture Quality is excellent on these settings V Format=Auto,
Gamm=48
Brightness=53
Saturation=50
Hue=50
Sharpness=5
