Buying a new satellite receiver.

Hi,
I am thinking of buying a new satellite receiver.
I already have a new Technomate M3 and know most of what it can do.
Is there any other non Linux satellite receiver that has hobby features for enthusiasts?
Are any of the Open Box satellite receivers worth buying?
