January 31, 2017 08.19 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Eutelsat has added Echourouk News in HD from Algeria and Persian channel Manoto TV in SD and HD.

Persian-language channel Manoto TV is now available on Eutelsat 7B 7B and on Eutelsat Hotbird. Broadcasting documentaries, films, series, original entertainment and news, the London-based free-to-air channel owned by Marjan Television Network was launched on Hotbird in 2010.

More than two million Hotbird homes in Iran are already equipped for dual-feed reception from Hotbird and the adjacent Eutelsat 7B satellite in order to benefit from the superior image quality of Manoto TV in HD and a diverse line-up of free-to-air content.

Algeria’s Echourouk media group has selected the Eutelsat 7B 7 West A satellite to broadcast the High Definition version of its flagship news channel, Echourouk News.

Launched in 2014, Echourouk News is one of the most watched commercial channels in Algeria. From its studios in Algiers, the channel is committed to delivering viewers round-the-clock news from the Arab world in both Arabic and French, and is the first all-news channel to broadcast in HD in the Maghreb region.

Ali Fodil, managing director and founder of the Echourouk Group, said: “With the launch last December of our all-news channel in HD via the Eutelsat 7 West A satellite, we are fully embracing key technological trends and givin viewers the benefit of the superior image quality.

Echourouk now has five channels, Echourouk SD, Echourouk HD, Echourouk News SD, Echourouk News HD and Benna TV, reaching 5.7 million homes in Algeria.
