Default Recommendation for dvb-s2 tvheadend server

I'm hoping to assemble a DVB-S2 Tvheadend server and would like recommendations for and adapter.

I have tried a PCTV 461e USB stick but it wouldn't pick up certain channels.

Alternatively can I set up a STB as a Satellite TV server?

I work at a cable company and we use the Teleste Luminato device. It does the job reliably and perfectly. Some things like creating your own multiplex from a selection of channels of various source multiplex requires advanced configuration knowledge but for passing out existing multiplex from sat or terrestrial broadcasts are simple to setup and works well.
