Eutelsat Quantum is not good news for feed hunters as the beams can be much tighter than the current satellites they will replace,

This has happened with Eutelsat 9B with very tight beams for Italy,Nordic Greece ect http://www.flysat-beams.com/e9b-beam.php

With Quantum's ability to reshape the coverage and power level of its beams for a specific region making reception outside this area virtually impossible even with a very large dish :(

It´s the end of all feed hunting and Sat (Ku) even worst than KA Band with no signal even with 4,5m focus prime dishes.(Ku not C bands)?

Eutelsat 12 West B 12.5°West europe, M E, americas 26 Ku 31 Ku september 2001 end of geostationary orbit Q1 2019,

What will replace Eutelsat 12 West B next year ?
I do not think it will be Eutelsat Quantum but you never know,

Other possibilities that depend on successful launches of replacement satellites Eutelsat 7C & Hotbird's 13f & 13G,

Eutelsat 7A will probably move here & be renamed Eutelsat 12 West C,

Much later:-
One of the Hotbirds from 13East may move here after 2021 probably 13E,

By 2019 there will be f##k all worth watching via feeds anyway
Very True indeed :mecry:

WWE/TNA Weekly Feeds Gone !
NFL Feeds Gone !
EPL Football Feeds Gone [ BT Feeds Going Fiber 2019 ] !
Anything that remains in KU is Tandberg
Snooker Feeds Gone !
etc..etc..

Eutelsat Quantum will pretty much make things impossible !

Hopefully Eutelsat Quantum will go to 5 west. :D

It still looks like a back up satellite will be required @ 5 west to fulfil the transponder contracts assigned to 5 west,
The move by Mediasat to 9B @ 9 east may only be a temporary measure,
Eutelsat Quantum was built for this specific purpose to back up or replace a damaged satellite.:thum:

After consulting Eutelsat as there is no confirmation available regards to the eventual satellite position that Quantum will occupy at this moment in time,

EUTELSAT QUANTUM heralds a new era of commercial satellite service, enabling users in government, mobility and data markets to actively define and shape the performance and reach they need from a satellite.

Communications on the move: dynamic beam shaping and vessel-tracking capabilities can be optimised for power and throughput as required by maritime, aeronautical and land-based transportation,

This satellite can operate at any location on the satellite belt & duplicate any footprint of the satellite it replaces.

Eutelsat have had to replan their satellite re-locations due to the failure of Eutelsat 5°West B solar panel so only 47% of the satellite capacity is available,

Signing a contract to move Eutelsat 7A to 139.2°west was probably not a good idea on reflection,

But help may be at hand with Eutelsat Quantum that will be capable of duplicating what E5WB cannot @ 5°west,

This may allow E5WB to move to another location 12.5°West ?
We will have to wait & see :D

So in short Eutelsat Still remain Clueless and Brain dead !!
They are now pretty much forced to put Quantum @ 5°West
due to failures to fix small issues which has now become an urgent emergency mission !! 12.5°West seems to be put on the proverbial Long Finger :D

Launch update:-
EUTELSAT QUANTUM heralds a new era of commercial satellite service, enabling users in government, mobility and data markets to actively define and shape the performance and reach they need from a satellite.

Using a software-based design, EUTELSAT QUANTUM will be the first universal satellite to repeatedly adjust to business requirements. Scheduled for launch early 2021, and to be located at 48° East, EUTELSAT QUANTUM will offer extensive coverage of the MENA region and beyond.
