Monitor Games (9E) - Newbie questions!

Hi,

I am very keen to get into the world of Satellites, and would really like to be able to receive the Monitor Games channel. It mainly shows Greyhound Racing - currently shown in Greek betting shops I believe!

I currently have a Humax freesat box, which I think can be put into non-freesat mode to allow me to receive this channel. Would this box do the job, and allow me to input BISS keys? (not sure of the exact Humax model atm, as not at home - will update!)

I need to get an 80cm dish installed on my house; does anybody have a rough idea of how much this should cost? I have been quoted £289 which I think sounds slightly steep for what I believe to be a simple installation?!

Any help is MUCH appreciated.

Thanks,

Rob

Your quote was likely for Dish & Motor and Sat Box and installation fee aswell ,

78cm dish should be around €45
Technomate 2600 Motor - €65
LNB - €10
T & K Bracket - €25
Install likely €80-€100
Sat box i would say TM5402 M3 HD - €185

quote given sounds cheap enuff ...And its sounds quite obvious that quality items was not going to be used i would say ??
If so then what ive mentioned should really be quite a lot more but again i wouldnt work with anything less than best quality available .

IF It was just a fixed dish and ONLY for Monitor games and whatever other possible Biss encrypt feeds on 10E/9 EAST you should get both sats with bleed-over even on a fixed dish easy enuff ..

Fixed Dish 78cm - €45
LNB €10
Plain wall bracket €15
SAT Box if required for that job Technomate TM5402 M3 HD - €180
& €80 install

total cost €200 EURO [ NOT £ stg. ]
PLUS YOU SHOULD GET MUTV HD & Fox Sport HD & AMC ME [ SD ]
and Italy Service betting channels too PLUS Few other channels into the bargain .

Not sure about your Humax box those days have long gone already where that box was maybbe considered a decent box i think ...LOL's

Motorised and getting a lot more is the way i'd go pretty much a waste of time to go fixed dish these days unless you really are only looking to see a limited amount of channels ?

Sorry for big long in depth post but i hope it helps somewhat nonetheless ?
good luck : )

Thank you so much. That's an excellent answer, has really helped me!

I think I am going to go for a fixed dish, as I do really only need this one channel. Although, the Italy betting channel you mention sounds interesting... do you have any more information on this please?

Thanks again

Rob

As the channel used to be on 13E then simulcast on 9E then left 13E there is nothing to indicate that they wouldn't move satellite again, so getting a fixed dish to get one channel is really not a good idea in this day and age, here's the thread I believe you were looking for anyway:

Looking at this few channels including what you seek
[ Monitor Games 9°E ] you really will need a HD Box for most
even monitor games dont work well without HD Box due to codecs they use , you will get a freeze every few secs .
i know for sure ive tested Monitor Games on my Technomate TM5402 M3 HD And it works flawlessly .
Hope that helps a bit ...i'm sure there is quite a few other channels im missing here ..but you get the point i guess :D :thum:

Thanks a lot for this. Excellent information. The Italy channels look interesting - although I'm not 100% sure if they show any live pictures.

Will investigate a motorised dish.. does seem the better option.

Thanks again!

Another quick question...

Do you know how much extra a motorised dish is likely to cost/cost to install? Also, how do you go about repositioning the motorised dish? For example, if I'm at 9E and want to move to 13E how would I do this?

Thanks

Depends see my post#2 again and the prices that i quoted ..
After dish and motor is installed and aligned motor positions are stored via remote control then you select your satellite via SAT Button on remote and motor moves the dish to each satellite .
Another option is a FIXED DISH dish with LNB Rack and several LNB's for example # 28E,19E,13E,9E
That eliminates any waiting time for dish and motor to moved to desired satellite .

good luck : )
