Barcelona refused to increase their initial 15-million-euro bid for Russian international forward Andrei Arshavin, Saint Petersburg side Zenit official site announced Monday.
"Spanish football club Barcelona refused to improve their original 15-million-euro offer for our striker Arshavin," Zenit general director Maxim Mitrofanov said.
He added that Zenit received no other offers to sign the striker from any other clubs.
"We are not holding any talks with any other clubs concerning the transfer of our forward Arshavin," Mitrofanov said.
His comments came amid rumours that Arshavin is set to fly to London soon to undergo a medical before signing for either Arsenal or Chelsea of the English Premiership

Andrei Arshavin supports Zenit in their decision to reject the bid recently made by Spanish giants FC Barcelona.
Barcelona offered 15 million Euros for the Russian midfielder, but Zenit demanded at least ten million more.
"I really understand this attitude. The proposed amount of money is really too low," Arshavin told Russian newspaper Sport Express.

Arsenal sign Arshavin

Zenit St Petersburg have confirmed Arsenal have signed Andrei Arshavin. The Russian's on-off move to Emirates Stadium dominated transfer deadline day with the deal not being confirmed by the close of play on Monday.

The Premier League is expected to finalise the paperwork on Tuesday to allow Arshavin to seal his switch to North London and Zenit claim the move has gone through in a deal worth more that £12million. "Both clubs have managed to complete the deal. Arshavin will play for Arsenal from now on," Zenit spokesman Alexei Petrov told Russian television.
