Hi, I have just bought a TM5402 and would like to know about patching. I have looked around the forum for a newbie guide (have seen a few posts) but cant see one that gives me the confidence to just go ahead on do it.
I believe I need to load a phantom patch (which version do I load?) and then a 002p "add-on" patch and after I have done this am I correct in saying that I will be able to load in my newcamd file off my usb stick?
Can someone please point me to a guide on how to do this or tell me what I need to do, just don't want to get it wrong first time... thanks

http://www.sat-universe.com/showpost.php?p=698979&postcount=9

To Download patch & Addon to your box just get a USB Pen Stick
put in PC/Laptop
open & extract Phantom Patch that you d/loaded copy & paste it to your USB Stick
Same goes for Addon File but you shouldnt need to extract this as it should not be in a zip folder .

Then press Menu on Remote
Goto USB THEN right arrow to DATA Transfer click on Phantom Patch .stb file and press ok the rest is automatic loaded and box will restart after patch is loaded ,
Same procedure to load Addon File

then you Simply press 8280 and Enter PIN = 0000

now you can add in your CCcam lines here or Newcamd lines ,
i hope this guide was usefull ?
plze press THANK Button if this post has helped you .:thum:

Hi Barney, your reply was most helpful, thanks, I now have this patched ok and my newcamd data loaded, but again being new to all this I'm not sure about channels, can you tell me do I now do a scan of the individual satellites to get the channels or just upload a recent channel list, or do I do both? does a channel list do the same as scanning? thanks Roger

To scan a sat is easy ..
just press MENU>Motorized settings>ok
Choose the sat you wish to scan from drop down box under Satellite
Press RED coloured button on remote then scroll down to OK is highlighted in orange then Press ok scan will automatically begin and when done it will go back to the last channel you was on before starting the scan
to scan a single freq or transponder press Menu > right arrow and Down to PID search press ok then goto Transponder and press ok choose the freq [ Transponder ] from the drop down box then press Red button .
you can add Freq [ Transponder ] by pressing green button or yellow to delete .
I Use Flysat dot com ..or Kingofsat dot net
to keep up to date with the latest freq changes .

Also you can upload a channel list Thanks to our good friend William-1 this is the list im using right now ..
http://www.sat-universe.com/showpost.php?p=1082088&postcount=4

just d/load the list and extract it from zip folder then pop it on your USB stick insert USB to bback of TM5402
then goto Menu>scroll down to USB
press ok then choose Data Transfer
press ok on Channel list and choose "Normal DB"
This will very quickly upload the channel list to your box for your enjoyment .

Any further questions please ask them here in this thread .

Good luck : )

Thanks for that info, will give it a go, just one more question though, does uploading a channel list mean you don't have to scan for channels, as you use the channels in the list instead of scanning, or do you upload the list after you have scanned, just trying to get my head round the difference between a channel list and actual scanning, thanks again, Roger

A New channel list will mean only very recent minor changes will need to be scanned in but generally everything thats important will be updated so really there should be no need to scan manually
if you are going to run a scan then it needs to be after you loaded a channel list because uploading a new list will delete your old current list .
So if this is an issue then have a search on forum Technomate tutorials there is a guide posted that will show you howto back up your current channel list .
Good luck : ) :thum:

what is a phantom patch
Its a third party software which like many other boxes on the market today will be required in order to take full advantage of what your box is capable of doing .
i would advise to always use the latest patch for various fixes like PVR fix and Youtube and Hardstation which has all been added to more recent patches .
Loading a new patch is pretty much the same as loading in a new channel list so have a look at my above post #4 for further details .
good luck : )
