Rome - An Italian entrepreneur accused of tax evasion was nabbed because of one thing he could not give up - his support for Florence's football club, the country's financial police (GDF) said Friday.

The police spotted the Fiorentina fan at the football matches while he was supposedly an official resident of Spain.

"For three years, he bought an annual subscription to the Fiorentina matches," a GDF press spokesman told AFP.

He said the man had also been surprised several times by road checks in Florence for which he owed fines and which showed that "he was clearly living in Florence."

The businessman who made his fortune in mobile phones is accused "of having declared a false residence abroad in order to escape from tax obligations in Italy," a GDF statement said.
His company had sales of nearly 540 million euros (666 million dollars) since 2004, allegedly defrauding the government of more than 130 million euros in taxes, according to the GDF.

Italian authorities have confiscated two buildings and a vehicle owned by the entrepreneur
