Vu+ Duo - crashes constantly

My vu+Duo that I had for longer than 3 years now, has recently being unable to cope with any of the latest images. I tried few blackhole images including an old version 1.7.7 lite. Also I tried VTI image. However, still having issues my Vu+Duo crashes every hour.

• Is this an issue with Vu+ Duo’s brain getting old or is it because of the images?

• I was told to try installing the original image but I could not find the links to the plugins, files, and the process on how to install Cccam on an original image from scratch. Could anyone provide me with details to do so

• Are there any suggestions to what would be the next receiver if Vu+Duo is no longer the boss in the market?

Your input is much appreciated

Cheers

For shure your pb is the emu that crashe & not the image; mine is 6 years old & work without pb . The know fault on duo is the capacitor when the red led stay ON & nothings happend(no boot, died)..Just change the little capacitor & working again, there is many post on that.
In your case the best is to install a Pli 4.0 & when go to menu/plugin/download new plugin & choose cams..In that mode you are shure to have the right repertory & with FTP programm you should go in /etc , scroll down and the CCcam cfg must be edited with your c lines or reader..that´s all..
In Pli image CCcam are like this:
/etc/initd <<< softcam CCcamxx(script)
/etc/ <<< CCcam cfg
/usr/bin/ << CCcamxxx (bin file)
Remember to chmod all files 644 & 755 or only 755(no pb for me) & normally you don´t need to reboot

Thank you very much for your input. my vu+ duo freezes every time and I have to turn it of from the main plug and turn it on again. Just now while I was watching one of the channels, I have to turn off and turn on the vu+ from the back switch 3 times in one hour. Is this means, the capacitor need to be replaced? Is it easy to do it?

Sounds like the capacitor problem.

I had the same issues until it just stuck on 'Starting' with the red light. Changed the capacitor and it worked perfectly after that.
