UKTV to launch on Sky Anytime+; adds 3 HD
09.00 Europe/London, July 29, 2011 By Julian Clover

UKTV, the UK’s second biggest pay-TV broadcaster, has agreed to place its content on the Sky Anytime+ pull VOD service. As a rebroadcaster of many BBC titles – BBC Worldwide owns 50% of UKTV – it means BBC shows including Fawlty Towers, Doctor Who and Planet Earth will now appear on Sky VOD for the first time.

Three new high definition channels will also launch Eden HD and Good Food HD are already available to Sky viewers, Watch HD and Dave HD are scheduled to launch in October, with Alibi HD going live in 2012.

UKTV’s Keith Porritt says, “We are thrilled to become Sky’s largest partner supplier of HD channels with high definition versions of some of our leading channel brands, and it’s tremendously satisfying to be finally launching our first VOD service this autumn. UKTV’s position in the market is so unique, that we’re confident our HD and VOD offerings will really add value to Sky and their customers.”

Content will be refreshed on a monthly basis and UKTV’s VOD offering will include nine ‘boxed sets’ a year.
