Ukrainian DTT problems continue
June 1, 2012 11.26 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Ukraine’s National Council on Television and Radio has again cancelled a competition for regional DTT licences.

Kommersant reports that the reason for it doing so was litigation by a regional broadcaster, due to which the Council was forced to re-announce the competition.

The conditions of the competition, which is for 169 regional digital frequencies, are the same as before.

In other words, the winning company must enter into a contract with Zeonbud, which operates four national DTT multiplexes, and prove to the regulator that it will be able to broadcast 24 hours daily.

Those who participated in the previous contest will be able to do so again in the new one without having to pay an additional fee.

The results of the new contest are likely to be announced in September.
