The Medical Channel has made its debut in Romania, launching on the cable network AKTA.

As a result, it is now available on a total of 18 platforms in six markets in Central and Eastern Europe.

Its operator, the broadcasting company Limeclip, is currently negotiating to extend distribution to Poland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland early this year, followed by the UK shortly afterwards.

Commenting on the launch in Romania, Dan Voicu, marketing manager at AKTA, said: “The Medical Channel represents an absolute novelty for the Romanian market and AKTA is proud to be the first platform to launch it.

‘We believe the content really suits our audience and we’re looking forward to receiving feedback as soon as possible.”

Nives Lepin, distribution manager at Limeclip, added: “We are very excited about our first launch in such an important market. The amazing response from the medical world and our viewers has been behind the fast growth of the channel itself. Its distinctive intention has proven the need for high quality medical content.”
