Switzerland passes one million digital cable homes

The total number of homes receiving digital television over cable in Switzerland has exceeded one million.
Swiss Cable said it expected the proliferation of HDTV and connected TVs to continue the trend. “Customers benefit from the excellent network infrastructure of the cable networks, which already consists of 90% fibre-optics. This makes the simultaneous use of multiple TV sets, computers and phones in the same household – as opposed to other technologies – without loss of performance,” commented Claudia Bolla-Vincenz, managing director of the trade organisation.
The number of households with digital cable TV is based on a representative survey initially conducted in April 1986. The comparable figures show 1,012,000 homes receiving digital cable TV as of September 2011.
