Joel, went out on a date at the suggestion of a marriage counselor.
Afterward, she blindfolded him, saying she had a "surprise" for him.
She led him to the basement, spun him around until he was dizzy, and
hit him in the head several times with a hammer. Joel escaped and ran
to a neighbor's to call for help. Since Amy had spread sleeping bags on
the floor and had a knife in a plastic bag, indicating premeditation,
she was charged with attempted murder. Amy pleaded guilty to felony
aggravated assault -- and was sentenced to 30 days in jail, less two
days credit for time served after her arrest. "I'm happy with the
sentence," said her attorney, Susanne Gustin, and "she's happy with the
