SPACE 2099

SPACE 2099 is an upcoming remake of the British television Sci-Fi series SPACE 1999, which was created by Gerry Anderson and had two seasons which ran from 1975-77, and numerous syndicated re-runs.

The new series was announced in late February 2012 and will be made by ITV Studios America in conjunction with HD Films.

The US arm of UK production company ITV Studios has linked up with HDFilms to develop the series, which will be a re-imagining of the series created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson.

SPACE 1999 followed a group of humans living and working in a space research facility on the moon until the storage of nuclear waste on the moon causes an explosion and sends the moon rocketing out of Earth’s orbit, stranding its inhabitants.

Jace Hall, president and founder of HDFilms and executive producer on the new project, recently produced V – the remake of the 1983 sci-fi miniseries about aliens arriving on Earth, which aired for two seasons on US network ABC.

We hope the project is in 'safe hands' people involved in the project come have come from other recent remake's of popular Sci-Fi shows such as Battlestar Galactica and 'V'.
