Kuala Lumpur, 26 September 2011 – MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd. (“MEASAT”) announced today a long term agreement had been signed with Solar Entertainment Corporation (“Solar”) for renewal of capacity on the MEASAT-3/3a satellites. This agreement further extends Solar’s services with additional capacity on MEASAT-3 for two (2) new channels.

“MEASAT is delighted that Solar is renewing its lease for capacity on the MEASAT-3/3a satellites,” said Yau Chyong Lim, Senior Director, Sales and Marketing, MEASAT. “We are proud to be able to continue to support the growth of Solar’s business.”

Solar has been a core customer on MEASAT’s fleet of satellites since 2004 when it used MEASAT-1 to distribute four (4) standard definition (“SD”) channels. The number channels has now increased to ten (10) SD channels and one (1) high definition (“HD”) channel, all distributed via the MEASAT-3/3a satellites.

MEASAT distributes a variety of SD and HD channels via its MEASAT-3/3a video neighbourhood at 91.5°E, including news, general entertainment, sports and factual programming. The 91.5°E slot will be further strengthened with the MEASAT-3b satellite. MEASAT-3b is planned to be launched end 2013.
