Sky 3D moves to on demand
APRIL 26, 2015 12.45 EUROPE/LONDON BY JULIAN CLOVER

Five years after its launch, Sky is moving its 3D channel from linear to on demand alone from June.

In a blog post, Luke Bradley-Jones, brand director, TV Products, argued that now was the right time for a move, as more customers were now viewing Sky’s service at a time of their choosing.

“From the latest 3D movie premieres like Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men Days of Future Past and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, to the very best in natural history with documentaries like Natural History Museum Alive, it will all be ready and waiting for our customers to view whenever it suits them,” said Bradley-Jones.

No mention was made of sport that formed a key part of Sky 3D’s early schedule, alongside features including David Attenborough’s award-winning documentaries such as Flying Monsters.
