Save before Flash ??

Was just wondering, many posts are saying "backup your dreambox before flashing".
How does this help? I've flashed a corrupt image before & the box doesn't get passed the boot stage, so unable to effectively recover any "saved" settings.
I'm sure I'm not alone in this, am I wasting my time "backing up" prior to flashing ??

I flash everytime without saving.
never I had problems!

flash correctly image and the world is perfekt.

A full backup would be a complete image with all its configuration.

So if something goes wrong you have a fully configured backup image to flash back.

yes Ferret, that's what the backup implies, but if for some reason a bad flash doesn't get you past the bootup stage, how will the saved configuration help, it's not accessible ??

Bad flash you mean a backup your prevously flash wont boot ?

So would I be right in thinking that the "backup" settings are simply a way to revert back to your previous image etc. if you weren't happy with your newly flashed image ?
