Yugratel, one of the leading providers of cable TV and broadband internet services in the Urals region of Russia, will shortly find itself with new owners.
According to Kommersant, its current ones – the authorities of the Khanty-Mansiysk autonomous district (72.13%) and Surguta (27.87%) – have agreed a starting price of R2.145 billion (€49.3 million) for the company, with an auction to be held in late November or early December this year.
There is already interest from MTS, Vimpelcom, MegaFon and Rostelecom, with the latter believed to be the favourite.
Yugratel has an 88% share of the cable market in Surgut and accounts for 11% (28,000) broadband subscribers in Khanty-Mansiysk.
