Russian-language radio festival under way in Moscow

Russian-language radio stations play quite a role in their respective countries by energetically promoting national culture and history, says the chief of the Russian presidential staff Sergei Naryshkin. He opened the Second international festival of Russian-language radio stations that got under way in Moscow today.

Attending the event are officials of 55 radio stations from 31 countries, with an aggregate audience of 10 million. The forum, on until this Wednesday, features a presentation of an Internet portal for Russian-language broadcasters, which will be used as an information exchange channel. An archive of programmes on politics, public life and culture in the project-participant nations will be in freely accessible to visitors of the site.

The festival has been organized by the International Alliance of Russian-Language Broadcasters and the Voice of Russia Radio Company.
