The Moscow city government may sell its 12.54% stake in Komkor, the owner of one of the largest fibre-optic networks in the Russian capital and surrounding area, by the end of this year.

According to Kommersant, Komkor, which is also known as the Moscow Telecommunications Corporation (MTK), lists the Moscow-based cable operator Akado as its main shareholder (74.76%) and provides half of its income.

Akado itself was a take-over target last year for Centertelekom, a subsidiary of Svyazinvest, but is now believed to be close to being acquired by MegaFon.
