Russia’s Rostelecom adds new Viasat HD package

Viasat Broadcasting has launched a new package of high-definition pay-TV channels on the IPTV service of Russian telco Rostelecom, offering Hollywood movies, comedies, history and nature programming.
The new package is called ‘Viasat Premium HD’ and features Viasat’s two new premium HD movie channels (TV1000 Premium HD and TV1000 Megahit HD), the new dedicated comedy channel (TV1000 Comedy HD) and two Viasat HD documentary channels (Viasat History HD and Viasat Nature HD).
The channels primarily feature exclusive content from four major Hollywood studios – Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, Sony Pictures Television, Warner Bros and NBCUniversal International Television Distribution.
Viasat has signed multi-year licensing agreements with the studios to enable subscribers to access premium high-quality movies as close to their box office release dates as possible for a number of years to come.
Viasat’s pay-TV channel offering in Russia, Ukraine and the CIS also comprises TV1000 East, TV1000 Russian Kino, TV1000 Action East, Viasat Explorer, Viasat History, Viasat Nature and Viasat Sport.
“The two most watched pay-TV channels in Russia are Viasat channels and five of our channels are ranked among the fifteen most watched pay-TV channels in the country,” claimed Irina Gofman, Executive Vice President of Russian & CIS and Pay-TV Emerging Markets for Viasat Broadcasting, commenting on the launch of the new package.
