RTL Germany launches OTT fitness channel

German commercial broadcast group Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland has launched Fitness & Yoga, a new non-linear OTT channel for connected TV sets using the HbbTV standard.
The free-of-charge, advertising-funded service comprises around 200 hours of sports and wellbeing programmes. The line-up includes 500 training videos in the categories fitness, yoga, dance, Pilates and health, partially with well-known German personalities such as actresses Barbara Becker, Ursula Karven and Christine Neubauer.
The users can individually compile their favourite fitness routines and perform the training in their own living room without having to go to a fitness studio. The offering which targets a young female audience will continuously be expanded.
To use the service, viewers need a connected TV set or set-top-box with cable or satellite reception hooked up to the internet and compliant with interactive multimedia standard HbbTV. Access is through the red button on the remote control.
Besides the catch-up TV portals from the Now family and the Clipfish channels Music, Comedy, Anime and dooloop, Fitness & Yoga is the ninth connected TV service provided by Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland.
