Romanian cable consolidation continues

AKTARomania’s Digital Cable Systems (DCS), which operates under the brand name AKTA, has acquired three smaller cable companies in the last few months.
According to ZF, they were Carasana in Caras-Severin, which had around 5,000 subscribers; Dobrotel in Mangalia, with around 3,000 subscribers; and DC Fiber in Siret, with around 1,300 subscribers.
Dinu Malacopol, the head of DCS, confirmed the acquisitions and said that more were planned.
Romania’s cable market is seeing consolidation, with RCS&RDS having also recently confirmed the acquisition of a number of smaller operators.
